Valpo Zip Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 In my humble opinion, Dru and Rome despite being two of the best things to happen in Akron sports, will not be missed at all.In fact i would take the J-wood-Dials combo over Rome-Dru any day of the week. Add Ced and Quade and you got four senior leaders with a whole lot of raw talents. I wouldn't worry about the meida... when was the last time they had it right anyways?I know that Can't state will be tough, really tough and i kind of agree with them being on top... but Ohio?!!! they were horrible at the end of last year. And Miami! why ? because they won last year's MAC ? that's not too convincing to me. Quote

With that said I think this team will gel as the season goes on and probably be playing their best baseball at the end of the year. Quote
jeaglet1 Posted October 19, 2007 Report Posted October 19, 2007 First off, its a preseason poll, it means nothing. However, I can see any of those teams listed 1-4 in the east winning the tourny. They key, as always is to get that first round bye. Can't always has a solid, but beatable team. Miami still has Politz and Uncle Charlie, and if Ohio can get any PG play (hasnt OU had a PG transfer out for the last few years?) they should be good with their front line. Wood / Politz / Williams / Reitz should make for some grat matchups. Overall I think things will be balanced, and fun to watch in the East.Personally, I think Romeo will be missed. He wasn't POY for nothing... Quote

That's reason for concern amongst anyone who might be prognosticating our conference. Don't disregard Ohio. They had two of the best inside players in the league, and both are returning.Miami has only lost Nathan Peavey, and a part-time big stiff on the inside.Can't clearly is loaded with talent, and all 5 starters return.Listen. This poll is not out of whack. It's up to us to prove that we can overcome this and win against these teams, who clearly have some advantages over us heading into the start of the season. Quote

What makes me confident that the Zips will be OK at the end of the year is KD's ability to coach up the players all season long. Since KD has been here every player has improved continuesly from season to season, sometimes game to game. As long as we don't have a rash of injuries we will have a great season. Quote

They were badly out-played and out-coached by Charlie Coles and his traveling suburban team. As far as I'm concerned, KD and the boys owe you die hard fans a championship in a season where they are not supposed to win it. This should be that year.I'm serious...all of you die hard fans are holding an IOU from the bb program and you should demand to collect this season.Good luck to the die hards! Quote
