ditchrider1
Hey Everybody ... first-time poster here. Anyone know what the white-ish platforms are on the top few rows of the lower bowl of the east stands that can be seen in the third stadium cam? I can't figure it out. Thanks!Video boards awaiting installation? Looks like there are a few in the same spot on the west bowl.I think those platforms might be the base for handicapped seating areas. If you look at the seating diagram on the Tickets page of the UA website, there are rectangular lines at the back of lower sections 101 through 113 on the east side, and sections 108 through 120 on the west side. You are correct. That is handicap seating.I just want you to know the above was not all that I wrote. It was edited by someone other than myself. Apparently the moderator took offense at the possibility I really had been hired to throw people in wheelchairs over the concrete wall and onto the platforms.I was wondering how they would get onto the platforms...now it all makes sense! Jk, lol.In all seriousness, my grandfather is handicapped and I really want to take him to either the Morgan State or Indiana game. If I get my grandfather a handicapped seating ticket, would I be able to sit with him? Or would I have to purchase 2 handicapped seating tickets? I really can't leave him on his own - but the handicapped seating is better than my GA location anyway! Lol.
Zipmeister
Couple more boxes have been hoisted into place. Think we'll have a scoreboard by weeks end?The coaches will want the scoreboard (more specifically, the clocks) operating in time for practices.Figure they'll also be putting up the poles and nets to catch the extra point and field goal kicks? Two of the coaches bought wrist watches so the scoreboard clock will not really be required for practice. I figure that is part of the home field advantage.

I figure that is part of the home field advantage. The reason they use the clocks during practices is that so all of the coaches can see at a glance how much time is left in each particular drill. With 120 or so people spread out around the field doing all different things, a couple of wristwatches aren't enough. But hey, why waste an opportunity to make a snarky remark. Some people on the list apparently live for it.

I was really worried that the roof wasn't going to be strong enough on those things.Stairwell doubles as bomb shelter! and the original slabs of concrete that they laid down on there (before they covered it with tar and poured more layers of concrete on it) looked on cams like they were over 12" thick. That bunker could sustain a direct hit.Seriously though, I am assuming they were worried about a standing crowd of a thousand people during or just after a game. That's not the sort of roof you make out of sticks and thatch.

I'm not a former UA athlete; I'm not even an alumnus of UA, but I think all 1st-Info-season ticket holders were supposed to have a brick w their name on it. However, I asked a UA athletics employee about these bricks about a month ago and was told, "We haven't decided yet." I'm not sure what that means, precisely, but I guess they've somewhat changed their minds about the name-brick wall?Anyway, don't you just love the constant flow of communication coming out of UA's athlectics department?! bUAkronG
looks like the road is paved behind the stadium now. Also, the parts to the scoreboard are visible from exchange street. They are sitting behind the scoreboard near the road. With them are large circles with the Zippy logo on them. They are about 10' in diameter and 3' thick. Not sure where they are going, though? Dr Z
For what its worth, I attend a certain training camp in Latrobe every year and they use watches and air horns. They seem to have good success with it. I see a couple hardhats moving around on a Saturday morning.
tbozeglav
I was thinking about this.... where do they plan on putting the cameras that normally sit behind the endzones for extra point kicks and stuff like that? In the rubber bowl, they were on top of the concession stand south of the field, but where will they be here? There really isnt any obvious locations for the TV cameras...
