Fball practice with the web cams on. After watching for several minutes I have concluded that anyone who could obtain valuable information about the team by watching the web cams is a genius. A lot of time goes by between cam shots.
It's the new game strategy called the stop and go. the whole team pauses for a sec, moves to the next position, pauses again,...etc. It's a bold move but lets see how it works on gameday. ;):D
if you ask me I think JD has discoverd teleportation and is trying to use it before the NCAA passes a rule banning it"beem me to a TD scottie"
cams are down again during practice i'm assuming. guess someone heard us discussing about JD's new strategy

Just to give everyone the heads up, installed today was the words "Infocision Stadium" atop the West Stands facing campus. I have a pretty big break tomorrow so I will try to head up to campus with my camera to snap a pic for you all.And it lights up as well!! It looks great.

They placed lettering on the face of the press box just above the club seats in the middle. You can't read it on the cams but it says Firstmerit Foundation Club Level. It's where I would have expected a large The University of Akron. If that goes on the roof, I hope it won't be lost in the lights for night games.

I thought it said "BAR OPEN"?
We are sorely lacking any "The University of Akron" and "UA" graphics on this stadium.

One item that is not visible on the cams is a flag pole (for the American flag) inside the stadium. Does anyone see one in person? One of the renderings showed a flag outside the stadium in front of the west tower, but that obviously won't do for when the crowd stands and Ohio's Pride strikes up the national anthem.Would be a bad thing to overlook.

No flags at all yet. Team flags included. One of the final touches I'm sure.
One of the final touches better be brick around the scoreboard as well. PLEASE!!!
Sorry man - that's already been decided - no brick until sometime possibly in the future.

I know "true" facilites never/rarely match the initial renderings. But not having the brick around the scoreboard and the field, the changed lights, the lack of blue paint on the non-Press Box stands and no flagpoles would be quite a diversion from the rendering that is on the posters, magnets, etc. And I don't see them replacing these things with better items at this time. Is this b/c of cost (most likely), time or some other reason (adding later)?I say all this, and please understand I love this stadium. And, I know there will be future changes.

I wonder how many bricks it would take to finish the job? What is the cost per brick? I bet ZN could come up with a brick buying fundraiser. That would be fun. I wonder if they have the funds, but just put some projects off for now due to time.

I walked around the stadium sight yesterday afternoon and noticed a few things.1. If you look @ the renderings of Gate #1 - the main gate located in the SW corner - there is a small building to the east of the gate, opposite to and a mirror image of the Team Shop, which sort of creates a walkway into the gate. This building has been scratched. It still looks great, but a bit more empty than in the original rendering.2. The FirstMerit Club Level sign looks really nice. Someone mentioned they thought that's where a "The University of Akron" sign would look appropriate. No argument there, but the FirstMerit sign does look nice.3. It doesn't look as if there will be glass enclosing the rear of the east grandstands. There are simply blue metal crossbars in some of the sections now. Some of the sections have nothing in them. I'm not as disappointed as I thought I'd be having seen that - it looks pretty good actually; rather industrial.4. The scoreboard looks good the way it is. Not that a brick enclosure wouldn't look great, but there is already so much brick, that the blue metal looks pretty good. The only drawback is that the south side of the facility is a bit barren - especially when all you can see to the south is the shame and blight of E. Exchange Street. Detractors are sure to pounce on that. You can definitely tell that the facility is designed for the future addition of a southside grandstand.

What happened to the commerative wall with the names of the people who bought the founders club season ticket package thing? I remember sending in the form with our names in the spring, but have not heard anything about it since. I have toured the stadium a few times and I don't even see a spot where it would be. Did this get dropped, as well?

I've heard that might turn into a walkway. I want the wall. Several winters and that brick is toast.

I remember seeing that new dorms will eventually block at least 50 percent of that view of Exchange St. Should look really nice and give a more enclosed feel to the Info!

Akron Coach J.D. Brookhart said one of the stadium's advantages over the Rubber Bowl, where the Zips used to play, is its location."The student body is finally going to be there," Brookhart said. "It changes everything for us."The new stadium will be within walking distance of 12,000 students, Brookhart said.
12,000 students. I think we'll be able to get 5,500 to show up between them and the commuters.
