A TV deal or better streaming quality, and the addition of either ODU or JMU for all sports is all I want from the MAC right now.

There is another way of looking at it too. Eventually the middle and lower class get sick of looking at the rich and cut their heads off and move into the better houses.

At which point they begin to mismanage their new homes and the next thing you know, it is a ghetto again. People who run the MAC and the ADs wouldn't know what to do if it was a BCS conference.

I agree 100%. ODU and JMU have comprehensive athletics programs and solid academics. They would be natural in-state rivals and add VA to the MAC footprint.

I'd also like to see UMass and Temple dropped entirely if they refuse to be full members of the MAC. The commissioner needs to let it be known that the MAC is not to be used as an intermediary or stepping stone to another conference.

I hereby decree that Temple may no longer play for the MAC football title. laughing.gif

Well it depends GP1. The French cut an awful lot of heads off during their revolution and they've done OK since. I've strayed pretty far from the MAC in making that statement so I'll leave it at that. Now where were we?

As much as I hate to say this, Akron's not going anywhere. I used to think eventually we would get out of the terrible MAC. But it's just not going to happen...

ODU and JMU both have very good soccer and basketball programs.

I agree with dropping UMass as a MAC affiliate but that's sorta hypocritical of me because I like having WVU as a MAC affiliate as well.

The non-revenue MAC sports already travel all over the nation, I can't imagine the travel costs incurred from adding ODU and JMU would be a problem. Don't understand how anyone could be against this

C-USA, the MWC, and the Sun Belt have all back-filled their losses and become weaker. I think they've all fallen behind the MAC at this point. The MAC is now sitting in 7th behind the six former BCS conferences simply by virtue of not panicking when Temple left and not adding a bunch of regional FCS schools with questionable success.

It's crazy, but right now unless we somehow, some way, get an invitation to the Big East, we are best served by sticking with the MAC. C-USA is weaker than the MAC now. The Sun Belt took several steps backwards. The MWC lost everything that made them great, and the WAC is all but dead.

Are you saying since the MAC sat on their hands, they got lucky in the foodchain known as football?

C-USA added Old Dominion and Charlotte today. Good move for basketball, terrible move for football. The MAC just moved ahead of them even further. Now they're where the Sun Belt was at, as a starter league for football moveups.

And with the talk of automatic qualifiers being "deleted" from the national championship/playoff/bowl formula - an undefeated and highly ranked MAC team will have just as good of a chance getting to the "dance" as a Big East/CUSA team.

I think seeing "small" schools like Old Dominion and Charlotte join C-USA is proof that UA really had no interest in moving there. Honestly from a football viewpoint it's a very head-scratching move to add a decent FCS school and another that hasn't even fielded a team yet. Not to mention UTSA?? I would hope that even with our 2 wins in 2 years, we'd be better than a nonexistent team.

C-USA to add 6 teams for 2013.

Right or wrong, this move is all about potential and demographics. Many of us have been saying this for years, but despite the investments UA has committed to athletics places like Charlotte and the Tidewater region have far younger populations that have been steadily increasing. It's got NOTHING to do with wins or losses.

Hey, things could be far worse. How would you like to be an Idaho Vandal or New Mexico State Aggie fan right about now?
