  1. Anyone worried about my boy Bowden still? I'm going to reinstate my hypothesis again (Jrship hopefully has the same feeling from the guy): Coach Bowden is hear for the long hall. He is the guy to turn this program around. He will retire as Akron head coach. But okay...does Riggins stand a better chance of getting more PT as a safety at Akron than as a LB at NIU?

  2. The problem was a lame offensive first half by the players. We had 7 points at the 10:00 mark. How excited are we supposed to be? Should we be feeling tingly at the prospect of breaking double digits before the first half ended? I remember thinking (and I think saying out loud) that this may be the most boring game I've ever been to. I remember thinking, "I drove an hour for this?" Some folks just love to attack the fans. Everyone says they want more fans, but when they come, if they don't cheer enough, they're too quiet. If they cheer too loud, they're labelled obnoxious. If they're not clad in full Akron gear, they're scorned. If all you want is people exactly like you, it will be a very empty arena indeed.

  4. They do not function well together. Last night Pat had a bad first half and still scored 16 points. Big Dog needs to be on the bench when Pat is out there and Pat needs to rest when Big Dog is on the floor. Pat needs the paint to himself to be effective. That is why after Tree left he has been so successful. When Bid Dog is playing you have two guys in the post and Pat gets double teamed immediately and has a difficult time. I was glad to see that KD did not have them out there together last night.

  6. In Noah's defense, a couple of those 3 balls were at the end of the game when we were killing clock and he forced them up with a couple seconds left on the clock. That being said, this team would play better if they would stop shooting so many 3 balls and try to work for a better shot or throw the ball into Pat or Big Dog. I think Reggie is a better player when he does more than shoot the 3. I watched Kwan during the half time break shoot about 15 3 balls and made about 10 of them. I knew his first shot in the second half was going to be a 3. It was, he missed. He shot only 1 of 5 tonight. However, he played good defense and had 7 rebounds. He had improved his defense so much from last year.

  7. I've liked Dejan's work since he left the trib. When he was there, he was borderline sensationalist, writing to get a response. Which is the vibe I got from a lot of their writers. He was great before that as the Bucs beat writer at the PG, so I was hoping he still had that in him.

  9. Wants a true "dual threat" at QB ....... Speaks highly of Chapman. Says it is an open competition in the spring but I think he likes Chapman ....... Says that he has some good young talent at QB Definitely a more Malzone type of offense, wants to speed it up ..... Talked about needing the H-back and also some more FB ..... Spoke about the o-line was very fired up about the new O-line coach

  10. Balsy I PROMISE that I just heard somewhat of the reply, in my home, not 30 minutes ago straight from Coach TB !! Bowden was passionate (or a great actor) when he looked me in the eye and said (kinda verbatim) "You're son is coming at the absolutely perfect time in the program" ..... And went on with the mistakes HE made and knows they should have been 8-4 ..... Praised all the kids and the effort .... Great stuff ...... Feel 100% confident with turning my boy over in July !! Fires me up !!! 1. HEAVY emphasis on recruiting south Florida .... Mentioned the win over USF for the Gilbert kid !! Also laying down lines in this area 2. Talked about every recruit/transfer and where they were gonna fit in .... It was impressive 3. Talked about year four and some of the parallels to other rebuilds that he has been through ...... Very convincing 4. Talked about making some good contacts in the local area that he feels will pay off big !! Frankly said, " when we win this year and get to the MAC championship and a bowl .... Then it will be fun !!! Great visit, wonderful guys ...... Cannot wait until March ........... Trying to post the picture but can't figure it out ...... Lol
