After the way Buffalo chose to finish last night's game instead of running out the clock, I hope they get absolutely stomped.3 points

I want this team to get better for next year, The best way to do that is get as much experience as possible when you can. Are we really too big for a tournament we've never been able to get a win in? Heck, the program only has two national postseason wins in Division 1 EVER. That needs to change and these guys could do it.3 points

I'd like to see players start earning playing time for next season by virtue of their performances in pre-season practices and scrimmages, and continue earning more or less PT by virtue of their total performance in games. By total performance I don't mean just points and rebounds, but combined performance in all offensive and defensive aspects of the game -- something that might start showing up in +/- ratings, for example.3 points

Two nights in a row they've called a jump ball on a half second touch.2 points

CIT and CBI are garbage. I'm with KD, cash the chips in and go home.1 point

KD should ask Shaka about this. Shaka considers the VCU run in the CBI being the springboard to the Rams' Final Four season. I'm not saying the Zips make the Final Four in 2015-16 if they continue to play but I do think it can be a springboard and provide experience. The rotation can be switched up, minutes can be given differently, Pat wouldn't have to play if not 100%. The bottom line is that playing on won't make anything worse and it could make things better for next year. I am sure most of the players do care and want to play on.1 point

I'm leaning toward the Zips skipping postseason. Three 40-minute games in 3 days is like playing 1 OT FIFA soccer match in 2 hours. Given the difference in the sub rules, perhaps not quite. Couldn't expect D1 basketball players to be that well-conditioned; might actually accomplish something. No, it's good just to come and play for Akron, get 20+ so-so wins during the regular season, go to the Q as whatever seed, and win a number of games, perhaps even the MAC and get the AQ to go dancing. Very satisfying. Who needs to get to the NCAA and win any games or continue playing and pick up more experience. Let's stay home, rest, and pat ourselves on the back at the post-season banquet. --- end sarcasm for today ---1 point

Nice run Zips. Congrats on getting to the MAC semifinals.1 point

The players and coaching staff are going to get together and talk out all the pros and cons before making their final decision. If they elect not to play in the CBI or CIT, I'm sure it will be for all the right reasons, including some that haven't been mentioned here. Whatever their decision might be, cowardly is certainly one word I'd never think of using to describe this Zips team.1 point

For those who think that MAC officiating is just bad, all around, I want to give you a good example. This particular situation victimized us on several occasions last night, but it's still a great example. When two guys have both of their hands wrapped around a rebound, it's OK to call that a Jump Ball. Fine. But in one instance, you can't call that a Jump Ball, and decide in another instance that it's OK to wait a few seconds to see if one of the players can rip it out of another player's hands. It's nowhere near the subjective situation that often occurs with a Charge/Block call. And if someone has an arm hooked under another player's arm during the held ball, it can't be a foul in one instance, and a Jump Ball in another. I think most people would agree that they just want consistency throughout the course of the game so that the players decide the outcome, and they were all over the place on this one last night.1 point

I don't think KD should make a judgment so soon. Give it a day. These guys are going to want to play again. It's what they do - they're ball players. I hope we play. I just thoroughly love watching this team play ball. But I also think we should play. Consider these games scrimmages. Who cares if we win or not? Tell the players there is absolutely no pressure here, we're gonna play hard, but not necessarily to "win." Kinda like minor league baseball; development is the primary goal. Get Aaron Jackson playing time. Get Big Dog more playing time. Get Antino more PT (he's a ball of fire and is going to feel like playing again by tomorrow morning). Reward Malcolm's hard work at practice all year long with some nice PT. How's BJ feeling? If able, an extra game or two would really benefit him. And give Deji & Nyles a ton of minutes as a last hurrah. They've done a great job representing UA; wearing "Akron" on their chests. Let them do it one more time. And finally, as someone noted above, go on the road. Make it fun. Eat out at a couple of nice restaurants. Go sightseeing. Take selfies. Cheer for your senior teammates & for those who didn't get as much PT during the regular season. Make memories. Better than sitting around the dorms next week.1 point

I can't believe this is being discussed. We have nothing to win in these "lowly" tournaments? Because we go in there and dominate year in year out? Give me a break! When we create a cupcake heavy schedule every year we complain that no decent team wants to play us...here is a chance to play someone decent. You have an opportunity to play a (most probably) decent mid major, we're going to cowardly run away?!1 point

Pointless. They got to 21 wins, made a nice run in the Tournament. All in all, they turned a potential disaster into a pretty decent season. Just leave it at that.1 point

I was driving home, thinking about calls like the charge on Pat (a huge 5 point swing), a few no calls toward the end, etc, and then I told myself I just needed to stop. It is what it is, and this is what it is - generally, the officiating in the MAC is mediocre. I felt that way tonight, I felt that way last night, and I felt that way Wednesday night. The biggest issue is consistency - they go from letting them play to calling ticky tak to letting them play and so on. It kills game momentum, it swings momentum when it shouldn't, and it often makes games tough to watch and enjoy. Personally, I don't care if a game is called close or not, I just want it to stay one way for 40 minutes. With that said, it is what it is. It isn't changing, and there's no sense in continuing to get angry over the same thing game after game. The conference employs mediocre officials and there is nothing we can do about that, so the team just has to worry about what they can worry about on the court.1 point

This is a game that was winnable but we just did not execute our offense very well in the second half, especially in the last 5 minutes. Antino did not have a great game but it was good to see Evans step up and play the point. Akron never gave up and played good defense but gave up to many offensive boards. There were a lot of deep rebounds and they always seemed to be a Buffalo player hustling for the ball. It seems like there will not be a post season tournament. I understand KD's thinking but feel bad for the seniors. Maybe he will change his mind. Congratulations to our 2 seniors, Deji and Niles, who both played great tonight.1 point

Disappointed by the loss, but great effort by the Zips. Passionate and never gave up. Season could have been a lot more disappointing given the circumstances. Looking forward to watching the freshman and sophomores develop and expecting a huge senior season from Pat. Deji and Nyles- You both had a very nice senior season. Thank you for how you represented the program and good luck to you.1 point

I contend we're "fortunate." Ohio State fans are spoiled. Kentucky fans are spoiled. Zips fans are hardscrabble motherf*ckers that deserve something special like what this basketball team is providing. I sat through a decade-and-a-half worth of Coleman Crawford and Dan Hipsher...seeing great basketball seasons implode as knees get blown out... players punching coaches... opponents banking-in dream-killing, 3-point buzzer-beaters... Five Pound Friday.... MAC POTY candidates prematurely leaving the program under often program-embarrassing circumstances...VCU...and the list could go on. In this week alone, I've driven 30 minutes back and forth to support the team in Akron, and 50 minutes back and forth, twice, to support them in Cleveland, getting home with my son after midnight during the week, all in support of the Zips. There's few things that irk me more than when someone calls me, or any other Zips fan "spoiled." We're fortunate to have the run we've experienced over the past 11 years, but we are not spoiled. We paid a lot of dues along the way, and deserve whatever thrills, fun, and satisfaction we experience in supporting the team.1 point
