  1. Something that needs acknowledged is the apparent relationship between Urban Meyer and Terry Bowden. Urban Meyer knows the guys looking to leave his program and I'm sure is greatly involved with where they land since these players dont have agents. You'll notice none of them are going to other B1G/prominent programs even though they probably could.Since Coach has been here, I wouldn't be surprised if we have more OSU transfers than all other MAC schools/Cinci combined. I can only think of Najee Murray going to Kent, and that may have been when Hazell was still there. I recall reading reports of Bowden attending some OSU camps. More recently, I believe during the signing day presser (skip is going to love this), Bowden himself stated that OSU isn't our rival. It's apparent that Meyer doesn't see it that way either considering the players he is helping Bowden land . You can pray for OSU to crash and burn (and that's ok), but the reality of it is that it's not going to happen. What you should pray for is for Akron to get in a position to challenge OSU for recruits and on the playing field - see Houston .They came out of nowhere this year with Herman, won a BCS bowl, and landed a 5* recruit in this class. I am thankful for the relationship right now. It has helped us fill some glaring holes and add some quality players. I wouldn't mind if that relationship ended due to us competing with them on and off the field.

  3. We lost by one, on the road, to a team that is now 17-8. Some of you guys really crack me up.

  4. I'm pleased to see that we only dropped to #46 in the RPI after the loss. In terms of rankings, I guess with it being a road game, and NIU having a good record, it's possibly considered a "good loss". I just can't get past losing a game to a team that had lost 5 straight. It sure made me realize how much teams in this league love getting Akron at home, and give us their best effort of the year.

  5. Keep sending them our way Coach Meyer !! Jamal and Sevon and Tommy Brown have done pretty well for us !! Hope Coach Bowden is cultivating that relationship !!

  6. Yeah but it ruins the pipe dream of running the table until a squeaker loss in the MAC final and getting at at large. Beat Canada.

  7. +1 Lzip. I thought about that yesterday. I would be surprised if Ball is a bust. He might not turn out to be King of the MAC, but I bet he buys us the time we need for younger players to develop. Every kid wants to play as a freshman, but moat of the time, it's better for them to red shirt. I also wouldn't be surprised if we had someone already either slotted or working with as an o line coach and it hasn't been announced yet. Maybe we don't but it wouldn't surprise me, either way. I am not worried about the o line. Yes we lost all seniors who really pulled it together during the second half of the conference schedule, but I think we have some incredible talent coming in and as long as we have someone installed before spring football, we will be fine.

  8. Can we put the cart back behind the horse now?

  9. We lost to a team that prior to beating us, was under .500 in MAC play. When we are the supposed "class" of the league, I'd say its laying an egg. They have a double digit loss to Miami for cryin' out loud.

  10. When the talk all week long leading up to this game was: At large bid, being able to play with Villanova, being ranked in the top 50, etc.... Yes, I'd say that this loss is laying an egg.

  11. Which explains why Keith finally exploded with 2 min. left in the game, when Noah gets a foul call on a simple box-out at the defensive end on a made basket.

  12. I looked at it a couple more times too. I don't think I see a "trip". I just see Jake stepping back into the lane in front of Big Dog, and cutting off the driving lane, then the NIU player simply tries to squeeze through the opening between them anyway and bounces off of Big Dog and losses the ball. The biggest issue I have with the call now is what happens on the next possession. The NIU player sticks his entire leg out to knock Big Dog to the floor as he turns towards the basket. If you are the officials, you can't decide to call a foul on one end, and take a "let them play" stance at the other end when the game is closing out. Let both sequences play out, or call the fouls.

  13. Part of being a decent conference is having credible officiating. Unfortunately, the MAC seems to get guys that appear to be moonlighting from their usual CYO officiating gigs.

  15. Guy falls down in the lane and we get the foul call. Would love to see that one on replay. Not to mention the very questionable out of bounds call that gave them the ball to start that sequence.

  18. Let me try to explain. You say OSU recruited Bauserman and failed, therefore they are suspect. However, no scholarship was offered, which confirms what they saw in the kid. The coaching staff just wanted to give him a chance, probably cause he worked his ass off in practices, which I think says something for their program. This Zips hatred of OSU has no basis except some bar room insecurity. We are better than that.

  19. I'm older than you. And I like collecting all of the Akron bobbleheads. They are nice little conversation pieces when friends and clients see them, and a good way to demonstrate my pride in Zips Athletics. And just a little perk for all of the money I've spent. Call me crazy. I'll make sure I keep my next appointment with my Psychologist. And for the record, I've never owned a "doll".
