  4. That might be because all those new apartment buildings charge almost double the rent compared to other nearby options.

  5. Cold from 3 so far. Hit a few and get the confidence going. Need to play better defense, too many chances around the rim for KSU

  6. We don't contest baskets in the lane, and when we do it takes help defense and we give up the offensive rebound. Time me to start chuckin 3333333's. Where's josh?

  7. I think sometimes we just need to listen to ourselves, and stop making excuses for everyone else who's not coming. 1) Not a recognizable enough former player. (but he is the all-time assist leader) 2) It was a Tuesday and not a Friday/Saturday. 3) It was Buffalo, not OU. (Buffalo is the reigning champ, was right behind us in the standings, and has really grown as a rivalry) 4) It snowed that day (It didn't snow past noon on Tuesday). 5) If only there were more students on/near campus........ And these are just the ones I see in this thread alone. They either don't know enough about what we are accomplishing here (a failure in marketing), and/or it just doesn't appear significant enough to get involved. And I bet most people who don't care right now wouldn't be able to tell you that we have a 21-5 record, a #40 RPI, or lead the league by 2 games.

  12. Guys like LOONardi and Mel Kiper are like weathermen. They keep their jobs somehow despite being proven wrong all the time. I suppose they provide fodder for conversation but other than that I don't take stock in what they're selling.

  13. I was being subjective in saying it was "good", meaning that I at least got one of the damn things, unlike to many of the others. On that note, anyone want a Dru Joyce bobblehead? I can get you one cheap.

  15. If they're going to do the tuition giveaway thing, why not make it a full season thing? Why wait until there's only three home games left?

  16. I was referring to much more than just those housing projects. Spicer, Quaker, South hall alone represent nearly ~1500 students From Grant Street to Route 8 back to nearly Thornton is mostly all right off campus students. When you add in the people who live in dorms, the people who live in houses and apartments near campus, and people who live at home but can still get to campus in a ~15 drive, you still will end up with a very large number. Perhaps it's more like 33% which means ~8500 live on or near campus. The main point I was trying to get a crossed is this isn't your dads Akron. Despite still being coined as a commuter school, it's nothing like what it was 15-20+ years ago.

  17. Josh's shots hit the center of the twine better than about anyone else I've seen at UA. He's a pure shooter. There's a lot of variables that go into assembling a MAC team that can make an NCAA tourney run. One of those is having three guards that can kill you from behind the arc. Kent had Mitchell, Shaw and Huffman. Maybe even Gates at times. OU had some combination of Taylor, Bassett, Kellogg and Cooper that shot the ball at an elite level. Josh's emergence gives us that X-factor guard that can out-shoot a Power 5 team in the tourney, and Jackson and Robotham are deadly too. Big Dog, Kwan and Pat (can he get at least 85% healthy?) inside gives us the beef to match up with the big boys. And Reggie and Jake give us deadly perimeter scoring and defensive length. I watch a lot of Wichita State basketball, and they are running roughshod over the MVC. It's time the Zips do the same in the MAC. If the Zips are as good as I think they are, tonight is a double-digit win. Maybe even a 20-pointer. It's time to start flexing our muscles against the weaker programs. With Josh getting 20+ minutes, all things are possible!
