  1. I think if the WMU team that showed up in Mount Pleasant visits InfoCision, we lose. But odds are against it. Unlike CMU, this isn't a rivalry game. Fleck and the Broncos are getting hyped big time nationally this week, and that's going to be a distraction. The Zips program is on a quest for respect, and beating WMU accomplishes that task. The Zips have shown resiliency and poise all season, coming back from major deficits against Marshall (21-7), App State (31-14 - albeit a loss) and Kent (down 3 with under 1 minute remaining). That's a sign of a great team. The since the second half of the App State game, the Zips defense has shown marked improvement. Some new faces are making impacts. With a relatively easy game last week, they'll be as well-rested as is possible w/o a bye week, The game will be a shoot-out, but I see the Zips winning at home and the packed student section rushing the field. Of course UA will need to announce the tuition giveaway after the game for this to happen. WMU's defense gave up 30 to NIU last week. The Zips are good for at least 40. Zips 49-WMU 40

  2. The part about the turnovers is important. You are going to win some games when that happens. If we get two, or more and covert to Touchdowns, we will win. Zips-37 WMU- 21

  6. Right, I was confused about that one part too. But, the "playing a ranked team at home for the first time" is just dead wrong. Anyone at least 30 years old, even if they just have a light connection to Zips Football, is familiar with the "Leftwich Broken Leg Game" when we beat a ranked Marshall team at the Rubber Bowl. This isn't a casual Zips fans we are talking about here. It's our longtime designated writer for our major hometown paper. No excuse. Also....I thought that if the press helped us out a bit, and stated that we PLAYED and BEAT the last ranked team we played here in Akron, if could help publicize this WMU game. So, they totally dropped the ball there. Thank You ABJ !!

  7. I have noticed several articles saying something to the effect that WMU plays Akron as a ranked team for the first time. I am wondering if GT misunderstood those other articles or if he really just got it that wrong? Either way, lazy journalism.

  8. Unless the game notes released by UA are incorrect, there's no excuse for this. Why bother writing anything if it's gonna be wrong?

  9. Wow, never put it together until that photo that Justin Sampson is Jakarr Sampson's younger brother. Man, they are mirror images of each other, facially. Jakarr has the height advantage, but Justin already looks to have the bigger build.

  10. I think he probably could have played last week, though not at 100%. Probably a smart move to let him fully heal, though.

  11. Thanks for making the long trip to East Lansing and supporting the zips.

  12. Except people don't want to go to ANY game for 4+ hours, Browns, Ohio State, Cavs or otherwise. I agree that the gameday atmosphere is going to make attendance better, but part of that is shortening the damn games. 4 hours is WAY TO LONG for a game that only takes 1. This isn't 1924, people aren't looking for one thing to entertain themselves for 4 hours.

  13. If it makes you sick to think about 12K for hapless Miami, you will really be sickened by the 13K crowd vs. ranked WMU.
