  1. LZip thanks for inquiring. Zips 59 iced his ankle yesterday and received treatment this morning. He had a slight gimp yesterday after the game; but a couple hours ago he said he is fine and ready to go. I refrained from telling him to "be careful". ????

  2. Let me reiterate what I said last week. I thought the game would be ugly and that it would not be an indicator of the rest of our season.

  3. Time to put the curb-stomping of week 1 behind us. Luckily for us, we should be on the oppposite end of the beat down this week as Arkansas Pine Bluff is coming to town. Woody didn't look good (not that our receivers provided much help either), but he should get a chance to redeem himself as it could have easily been rust instead of "losing it" or still not being fully recovered. I have some trouble believing the coaching staff would have put them out there if he isn't back to 100%. Kato I thought looked solid. He could definitely be the future...or even present. Feels like the situation a few years ago when Chapman was the starter at the beginning of the season but proved to be ineffective, and then Woody seized the opportunity vs whatever FCS team we were playing and never looked back. Like last game, I don't expect to take much away from this game as it should be a beat down and they should not be near our talent level. We can evaluate whether Woody shows any improvement, which there is no excuse not to against this team. Rust isn't an excuse anymore. I'd expect we get to see some more of Kato as well. I haven't read any post game stuff, but it *seems* we should be mostly healthy going into this week as the only injury I recall on the field was #59. Any update on that @Zipmlady? I know Chapman got smacked, but I don't figure that would keep him out.

  5. @ZipsVoice glad you made it to the Zips' match. Didn't mean to "shame" you into it, but glad I helped convince you. Glad to have had you in the crowd even though we haven't met (at least not to my knowledge) and didn't know you were there. Fun match...so much better in person.

  6. http://www.cantonrep.com/sports/20170829/mckinleys-lepear-toles-headed-to-state-fair-community-college I really don't understand the thinking behind one year at a prep school followed by another at a low-level JC.

  8. I hesitate to put my thoughts on here but here it goes. 1. the seating Akron fans got had a good aerial view, you see so much more from above 2. We where way outmatched, size & speed, across the board at all positions, our 2 WR 5'7" & 5'9", no target area, WR should be 6'2"-6'4" & slots 5'11"-6'1", just one ex. But it's like that everywhere in this game (definitely need Wolf out there) 3. With that being said I was disappointed with a few things, PS brought someone from the edge a lot, rather it was a linebacker in 5 wide, a safety or corner, they rotated a safety to cover blitz, they also had a DE pushing our tackles down into the guards leaving that outside pressure clear path, depending on how you teach it, the tackle passes the DE to the guard & stays outside or the uncovered guard bounces out to pick that up, we didn't do it & ended up with 2 guys blocking the DE with clear path to QB so O-line is always talked about as a strong suite didn't play well & don't mean just outmatched but outwitted, secondly on offense, we had no hot reads on those outside blitzes, if you want them to stop doing it, you have to have QB/WR on same page with hot reads & burn them 4. Opposite on defense we had no pressure, they had all day for their reads in the RPO offense, by time they had to make a decision you could see the defense part like the red sea & then our team speed was not good enough to recover with McSorely & Barkley & they just ate it up, on the DB's getting picked on here they can't cover forever, a lot of the big plays where on double moves where they turned completely around on & you can't do that, you need to be able to plant that foot, open hips, turn & run, once you turn your burnt but you can't give enough time for teams to be running double moves that far down the field, they can't cover that long just my thoughts on a few things I saw, I guess release the hounds & start shredding what I said, debate is good good news, Arkansas Pine Bluff next week Go Zips

  10. Why not? Rankings mean absolutely nothing right now. So being "higher ranked" literally means nothing. And I'm not saying this to be a Bowden apologist right now...seriously...but using "USC is good because of their ranking" is just as reliable as saying "penn state is good" because of their ranking. Akron looked pretty equally miserable against a #19 Oklahoma (that later became #4 and played in the CFP), yet Akron had it's best year ever (8-5) with it's first Bowl win ever. So yeah, IDK, I just don't like jumping to conclusions off of one game...other than my prediction that Woodson wouldn't be the same QB. I was hoping he would be, but today he didn't appear to, and I had feared it'd be because of the results of that injury. Hopefully this observation will NOT be the season for him, and I'm not willing to declare him a hopeless cause just yet.
