Finally got back to Ames. We had a great time in Akron, starting at 7am in Lot 4, and we didn't leave until 6:30pm. The staff was great in helping us get things set up in advance. Thanks for being gracious hosts, off and on the field. And all the Zips fans I met were nice. You are all welcome to tailgate with us next year. We wish the best to you.

We are very talented at the skill positions this year, but our offensive line has been shaky. We lost three starters from last year. Our two backs are opposites, but both very effective. Defensively we've played well but seem to have issues getting pressure on the quarterback st times. Special teams are hit and miss at this point. Should be a good crowd Saturday. It's military appreciation and educator appreciation day as well.

Just wanted to say that we were really impressed by Infocision Stadium and the Zips fans that we met. The overall turnout wasn't good, but the ones who were out were a good time. I enjoyed the town as well. Downtown was a little slow Saturday night, but we had plenty of fun Friday night in Highland Square and had a good end to Saturday night at the bars by campus. My only complaint was the absolute cluster f*ck that was picking up will call tickets.

I watched half of the Troy/NMSU game and I can't say I was too impressed with them. A solid G5 team obviously, but nobody really stood out that worries me. I think their QB is a 6th year senior and they have a pretty good RB that isn't quite back yet from an ACL tear? They didn't exactly light up NMSU, who was picked to finish 10th preseason in the Sunbelt, even though I'll admit they didn't look bad at all. Them getting more points than ISU did against us doesn't seem right. Hopefully it does end up like the ULL game a few seasons ago.

Vegas opened giving the Zips 14.5, and it's pushed up to 15.5 to 16 in most places taking bets. This game reminds me of the Louisiana game a couple years ago, I think the outlook was similar. Hopefully the result is the same...

I think the bad play calling, poor blocking, excessive penalties, bad attitudes, lack of talent and general poor play on the field is ruining it for everyone. But that is just me. Have a great day!

This isn't rocket science everyone. We were going to have much more difficulty blocking Iowa State than we did against UAPB And, Iowa State has guys that can tackle much better than UAPB. That's the end of the analysis. Running the football in Week 2 vs. Week 3 was going to be incredibly more difficult., no matter what anyone thinks about how Iowa State planned to stop our offense. You have to make a lot of big plays to win games like this, and I think we only had ONE. There were 3 Iowa State fumbles laying on the ground in the first half, and we got NONE of them. Our only fumble resulted in a turnover. That's the way it goes. A lot of things need to work in your favor in a game like this. But if I were to point out one critical play: You can't have an OL jump early on a 4th down play in ISU territory in the 3rd quarter when you are only down 6 points. Not giving ourselves a chance to convert at that moment essentially ended our last chance to win the ball game.

Embedding issue is hopefully fixed.

Any word on Zach Guiser? I believe he was knocked out in the last game. The team took his injury, really hard. I am not sure he should come back after that injury.

To me, this game put the final nail in the coffin for this coaching staff. The nail isn't pounded all the way in, but I feel like the program has regressed in the last couple of years. The discipline on the team is nonexistent, and the talent/player development just isn't there. We consistently look smaller and slower at positions we need to be bigger and faster at. Additionally, I want nothing to do with Milwee. He makes the offensive side of football look harder than it is. Bubble screens do not work when you're blocking with WRs that are sub-6'.

Some of us have been awake for a while but are sick of getting attacked for even thinking TB isn't the answer.

Why are people waking up now? No offense to anyone, but I am curious as to why this game is tipping sentiment against Bowden.

What I seen. I was there firsthand: Akron has to stop the dumb penalties. That is a given. However the p-poor tackling/contaiment is far worst. Some of the plays, a Bad City Series/ Suburban League would not do. We are in that game if that happens at Halftime. The Iowa State Fans are First Class! They know what they are and I do not know what goes on in Ames, but I wish we had their Fan Base for the level of commitment. Did we regress that bad? Am I looking into this too much? Are we an average MAC team this year? Heck, Eastern looks good so far, and I thought I would never say that. I am mad, and I know that, but is there a light at the end of the tunnel that is not a train?

You're right. (and yes sometimes you can be a troll, but in this instance I think you're right). I debated even visiting the forum today, but I'm willing to say publicly that I'm no longer happy with the direction of Zips football. I talked up this game to my best friend...the one game we go to every year as alumni...she brought her new BF and we invited a couple of other friends...only to have an embarrassing team on the field. I'm losing my interest. What is there to be excited about? I try to hold the positivity line...but when I want to watch a good game with my friends...and instead get "Matt I thought you said this would be an interesting game..." Kinda lose the heart a little.

Who is struggling? This team stinks
