one of many: University of Tampa comes to Akron as a huge favorite with future NFL players Freddie Solomon at QB and Leon McQuay at RB. It was a fire marshal special - around 40,000 in attendance. Akron kicks off, Tampa bobbles the kick and gets tackled at their own 4 yard line. First play from scrimmage, they fumble and Akron recovers at the 4 yard line. Akron runs it into the end zone on their first play. Final score: Zips 40 - Tampa 0. Later that year Tampa announces they are dropping football. Ah those were good times.

Good thing that didn't happen when Dan Hipsher was coach. Hell, he threw me outta the upper stands one time when I was just sittin' there. Hipsher got upset with the girl who served him burnt toast at Denny's in Waikiki and swore he'd never come back to Hawai'i again! ?

We offered him in may of last year. Heard he might be taking the post grad route I think the bigger schools have cooled down on him. Maybe would have been a impact freshman in the MAC mobile 6’9 - 6’10 can finish at the rim and has good defensive instincts.
