  1. Just because he drove to Florida and enrolled there doesn't mean his situation bears any resemblance to Council's. Dylan is an exceptional kid, but if he plays a down for the Gators, aside from possibly against whatever FCS team they pound 73-3. I'll be astounded.

  2. Congratulations to Sam Harter for being names to the Beacon Journal boys soccer all star team https://www.beaconjournal.com/story/sports/high-school/2021/02/14/beacon-journal-boys-soccer-all-star-team-features-multiple-players-hudson-copley-revere/6720282002/ Harter, a University of Akron men's soccer commit, was named the SLAC Player of the Year in 2020. He also was selected to the Division I All-Ohio second team as a senior midfielder, and was a first-team All-District and first team All-SLAC choice in each of the past three seasons. Harter finished his four-year varsity career with 29 goals and 22 assists at Copley.

  3. True ... that's why I've always said tiebreakers should work backwards in the standings. Teams should pay more for losing to bad teams than losing to good teams. (I know, this year that would hurt the Zips, but most seasons it would not).

  4. It'll be interesting to follow as we near the end of conference play, but I wonder if Toledo is starting to wear down with their 7 man rotation. I said it before and I'll say it again - I'd feel very confident against them in the MAC-C. Let's just hope we get there and don't need to play them until the finals.

  6. Thanks slowroll. Agreed on all of your points. Hopefully, we will see the team come together more quickly this season, and hopefully injuries are minimal although the inclement weather will not help. I like the attacking talent on this team as well as the many important players returning. Coaches can only do so much; I'm looking for some leaders to step up on the field and take charge (like Loren Christian Jackson does for Zips Men's Basketball). I met many of the newcomers last Spring before COVID set in, and I know they are quality people just like those returning and those who came before. I challenge them to take ownership and put in the hard work above and beyond that which they believe is already above and beyond. GO ZIPS!!!

  7. I've noticed a kid in the Beacon Journal boxes recently whose name might bring a smile to the faces of you "experienced" Zips fans. A point guard for the Buchtel Griffins named MARCEL BOYCE JR.! Class of '23, playing point guard with on a team with 5 star recruit Chris Livingston.
