  1. Great team performance.....the defenders and GK's worked their tails off.... the forwards and wingers....were simply outstanding.... the midfielders ran all over the field...Renato has quickly become a favorite....he is feisty and does not back down Hoping that Samu will be back for Friday's big match. Samu is the best ball winner on the team as HMF Finally, it was great to see our new Athletic director on the field with his young children after the game I am so glad that Larry the Lawyer....has moved on. Charles Guthrie has made a strong first impression.

  2. I think the casual fan will lump Akron and Temple in the same non-P5 grouping. But Temple's success over the last 10-or-so years blows the Zips away. Al Golden left Temple for Miami FL, Steve Addazio left for BC, Matt Rhule was hired-away by Baylor and Geoff Collins took the Georgia Tech job. They hired Rod Carey away from NIU. They've had one losing season since 2013. In that same time JD Brookhart left Akron to sell CAD software, Rob Ianello's forced exit landed him the coveted Buffalo's WR Coach job, and Terry Bowden recently resurfaced at doormat Louisiana Monroe after being fired. Over the year's Kent has had some terrible teams...but they maintained some respectability because they had some great QB play. Jose Davis, Josh Cribbs and Julian Edelman compensated for horrible defenses with a high-scoring offense. I hate Kent, but those guys were fun to watch. If Irons can prove the Auburn appearance wasn't a fluke, and Arth opens the offense up, the 2021 Zips could actually be watchable. I wouldn't have thought that when the season began. I see this game playing out slightly worse than the the UAB game a couple years ago. Temple 45 Akron 23. I don't see us stopping Temple, no matter how badly they appeared to play against Rutgers. I'd tighten the spread if a few more Jeslord Boateng's joined the defense this week. He makes plays behind the line of scrimmage. I like him.

  3. I'm new here and I'm certainly nothing more than a fan of Zips soccer , but from looking at Indy's roster these may be 3 players to watch Friday.... 1.Probably the guy most would know is Victor Bezerra, who has missed a few games this year but came back last match vs. Xavier. He scored 15 times last season and was Hermann Trophy runnerup. Trains with the Chicago Fire...not their club team, the actual Fire! Wears #7. 2. Forward Sam Sarver from Beachwood, Ohio scored the only goal of their last game as they beat X 1-0. He was rated #32 in U.S. last year by Top Drawer and is a freshman wearing #9. 3. Ben Yeagley is a midfielder and a redshirt junior. He is the son of the Hoosier coach Todd Yeagley and wears #20. Of course as the #1 team in the country they'll be throwing a lot more talent at the Zips than these three. My hope is by mentioning them by name I'll be jinxing at least three of their better players.

  4. I see this as a Do or Die Game for the rightfully impatient mentally tired, beat up frustrated Zips now aka "Script Akron" Fanbase Whats left of us under the Ohio State apparel.

  5. GT has a hard-on for Kato. Apparently Auburn's 2nd teamers suck balls so it's basically like DJ was just putting up numbers against Mount Union.

  6. If l could field a team of those 2nd teamers in the MAC, even l would be COTY. I really can't say much; I'm just basing my comment on the numbers. (I'll be back in Ames this week along with Game Day.) However what I have seen of Kato, I would like to see what DJ could do as starter.

  7. Hey everybody, Just got on your boards to hear what you thought about DJ Irons. I work at Iowa Central Community College and loved watching him play. He has a little Michael Vick in him the way he can scramble out of situations. I remember a play where our OL apparently forgot that their job was to block, but he dodged about 4 would be tacklers and ran for a first down. That type of play does give you opportunities for injury as he had a couple of minor injuries while at IC. Hopefully he will be named the starter and can bring a little excitement to Zips nation. Also, on top of being a talented QB, he is a sensational person with great character! Look forward to following him and you guys from Iowa.

  8. UCLA tried putting University of California Los Angeles on their helmets, but decided not to because it wrapped around the entire helmet in a font too small to read from more than a few feet away. LSU had a similar idea, but elected to go with the acronym when nobody at the school could actually spell Louisiana.
