  1. Kwan is on the Magic Summer League team. Here is the NBA.com story with a blurb on him. Here is what it says to save you the click: Kwan Cheatham Jr. One of the more experienced players in this year’s summer league, Cheatham has already played on five professional teams overseas, including most recently with Fuenlabrada of the Spanish Liga ACB. He played his college ball at Akron, where in 101 games across four seasons he averaged 7.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists. His best college performance came on Jan. 28, 2017 against Buffalo when he erupted for 31 points and made seven 3-pointers. The 26-year-old is best known for his ability to space the floor at 6-foot-10, 235 pounds while doing all the dirty work on defense and on the glass

  2. I can't tell if this is sarcasm directed at me... 😂

  3. Well said. I don't see how anyone can argue with your statement.

  4. I watched a decent amount of Memphis hoops last year. He reclassified to start college early. He was a bit soft due to that. Also he has a lot of work to go on his jumper. He lost playing time and looked to transfer. Plenty of schools wanted him. I thought he was going to end up at Louisville personally. If he figures out his jump shot he's a pro. Think Felipe Lopez for an old school comp

  5. He should give the MAC three draft choices in three years: OU’s Jason Preston, UT’s Ryan Rollins, and EMU’s Emoni Bates. The following year Freeman will make the MAC 4-for-4 💪💪💪🤞

  6. I'd like to think it becomes a selling point if he's drafted high and makes an impact in the NBA. Showing that you can choose the MAC and still have a nice path to the NBA.

  8. Is Emoni a one-and-done caliber player at EMU? I would imagine so. Not sure how much of a selling point he is to any future class recruits.

  9. That’s the most important thing, we have an opportunity to go hire a real coach now and need to take advantage of it. In retrospect, imo we probably let the wrong coach leave, because that first year’s roster had lots of talent, plus other high end recruits committed (including the 2022 horizon league freshman of the year), but that’s water under the bridge. We are where we are and Guthrie needs to go get someone that can build a program. Unfortunately they’ll basically be starting from scratch, again…

  10. I wish I could get a job being as intellectually lazy as this guy. First things first, college football is not in crisis. Why blow up something that is working?College football is more competitive than it has been in years due to offensive creativity and the free movement of labor through the transfer portal. Sure, there are 3-4 teams that dominate the top, but the rest of college football is doing great and if you can enjoy the hundreds of things that make college football great, it's easy to ignore what's going on at the very top. Today, the Zips are in a great position to be successful in the short term because of coaching creativity and the transfer portal. No more 5 year building process that ends in disaster. Look, I'm not sure why so many think the solution to all the problems in college football is an expanded playoff system. This stupid and lazy idea assumes everyone in college football either is capable or has the desire to win a national championship in football. There are less than 5 schools capable of winning a championship and an expanded playoff is only going to shovel more crap through your television in their pursuit of the championship for the small number of schools who could actually win. The current playoff games are trash and more trash isn't what we need. The only way for G5 schools to escape this level of stupidity is to divorce themselves from P5 conferences and create a system focused on making their athletic programs benefit the athletes, students, alumni, fans and general communities. The insanity has to stop.

  11. Dealing with NIL, on E. Market near the Arlington/Buchtel intersection I saw Garvin Clarke on a billboard for mental health/anxiety awareness. Maybe Groce & JoeMo should have a large catered dinner (maybe in the John S. Knight Center?) for Akron-area businesses/business owners and simply explain the new NIL landscape and ask that they work UA football & basketball players into their marketing?
