  1. My understanding ... Facilities crew utilized “growth mat” tarps to help re-grow grass in the penalty area over the winter months. It’ll be back to perfection by the summer.

  2. I reported the problems some (all?) of us are having loading gozips.com when trying to access the site with a PC. I left a message with the athletics dept. and with Learfield.

  4. For the ZN.O members who don't have the time to track the portal for basketball. Not much can happen right now except for 2 days between April 7th and 9th. "We are currently in the middle of the March 30-April 6 dead period, only to be followed by an April 10-13 dead period. A recruiting dead period is when college coaches are not permitted to have any in-person contact with recruits and/or their parents."

  5. I think it would be awesome if Akron recruited a kid named Joe Sh'mow.

  6. Looks like we had Luke Mangini on campus recently. Teammates with JoeMo's son at Hawken and if I'm not mistaken, is Eric Mangini's son.

  7. The grass is a different color in front of the goals because that area was covered with a tarp to keep it dry. W/o receiving sunlight the grass was not the same color as the area that had no cover.

  8. With everyone loading up with transfers, I just wonder if "true freshman" are the big losers in this new system of college basketball. Why recruit a high school player that may take a couple of years to mature and become a division one player. None of our frosh were major contributors and when it came down to crunch time in Cleveland in our final game they did not see the floor except for some terrible minutes by Nate. If you do hit it big with a frosh, he will be gone the following year in the transfer pool.

  9. I couldn't agree more. I will never forgive Shaka Dumb for the pressing the Zips the entire game in the 2013 NCAA Tournament. We lost our point guard, Alex Abreu two weeks prior and then the day of the game - seven Zips were sick with the flu or had food poisoning. Shaka finally stopped pressing with less than a minute to go and up 40 points. He did this to Keith Dambrot, who WAS allegedly his "best friend in coaching." Shaka is trash.
