This is a positive for the University. It both gives them an infusion of cash to reduce debt and also reduces annual maintenance costs. I hope whoever bought it is able to redevelop it into something that will be useful for the community.

Now time to cheer for a 3OT game between Ohio and Toledo.

Their fan base is too busy making excuses to defend Kowalchoke.

Increasing JAR Attendance/Engaging the Fans

I saw an article on it awhile back. Her parents were both acrobats in China. It kind of was forced onto her by her dad at a young age. -
His case was certainly helped by the fact there weren't really any outstanding in the MAC this year. Miami was the 2nd best team in the MAC and, like Akron, their strength was depth. If you're not on one of the top 2-3 teams you're just not going to win the award.

The women's All MAC teams were announced today, which makes me believe the men's will be tomorrow. I'm not even sure I could make a credible guess how it plays out. Nobody really stuck out this year in the MAC.

TBF Infocision was built 16 years ago. If it was built today it would probably cost something in the neighborhood of 120 million -
Weren't the locker rooms just renovated a few years ago? I would say that's an example.
-
The new car smell always fades. Build it and they will come is only relevant in cinema. What drives attendance more than anything is success. Let me put it this way, do you think the football program would be in a better state like it is currently or if it played in a dumpy, paid off stadium, but had an additional $4+ million in its operating budget to pay for assistants, equipment, and NIL? Resources are finite. New facilities are nice, but are excessively expensive. You can stretch your dollar more by focusing on spending on things that provide the greatest ROI.
-
My thoughts exactly. Putting a little lipstick on a pig won't move the needle. Potential recruits aren't going to care if the blue hairs have bleachers or chair backs. Akron would have to invest $80+ million in a new facility to get a wow factor from recruits. The University doesn't have that to spend and boosters, like Wentz, money is better spend on NIL. You get more bang for the buck. The low hanging fruit that entices players, like lockerroom and practice facility, has already been done.
-
That was my initial thoughts when I read the previous comment as well.

You don't even have to look far back to see an 8 seed beating a 1. Nobody had 8th seeded Kent beating 1 seeded Toledo last year until it happened. I will say Senderoff always has Kent playing a physical brand of basketball, which helps come tournament time. Toledo is soft both physically and mentally, which is why they underachieve year after year in the tournament.

My personal, non educated, opinion is he wouldn't just leave for any job. He could probably already have gotten a MVC or A10 job if he wanted. It would probably an attractive offer from an attractive school.

There was a reason RPI was replaced. It was a garbage stat and has always been.

MBalla looked like he was going to be a stud as well. Averaged 15pts 11 boards as a junior. Ended up going to Ole Miss only to be the ~9th man in the rotation.

Believe it or not that's probably a softer OOC schedule than they have many years.

There are usually a couple voters that will throw a few votes to get a team some spotlight that nobody is talking about. High Point with 4 votes is another example.

Most improved player from last year's Zips Team

Buffalo is not in great shape. Options this offseason are either give Halcovage a 3rd year or start over with a new coach in a year 0 situation. Even if they right the ship it's likely going to take a few years. -

I honestly don't think this year is that much worse than last year. The MAC has progressively just gotten worse year over year the last 4 seasons. Unless the trend bucks, being the 20-25 best conference is just the new normal. -
We look like a team that peaked in January. I wouldn't recommend just mailing it in the final week of MAC play. We need to work on making adjustments to get back to firing on all cylinders. Right now in February we're playing like a team that is marginally better than the rest of the MAC. That gives us good, but not great odds of winning in Cleveland. I'd be feeling a whole lot more confident right now if the MAC tournament started the beginning of February instead of March this year.
-
Give me Kowalchoke any day of the week. Pinky and Boals have both shown the ability to win in March.
-
That's fairly devastating this late into the recruiting cycle.
-
I think it's fair to say all the 9-6 teams are securely in the field as well. A lot of those 6 and 7 wins teams face one another so it's not possible for them all to win out. It's more just about seeding.

There are 14 Sun Belt teams and only 12 MAC teams so 2 Sun Belt teams are left out each year. Marshall volunteered to be one of those 2 teams. Their reasoning is they typically schedule 2-3 MAC teams OOC anyway so it makes them playing in the contest redundant.
