  1. As of now we would own a tie-breaker, but we're not actually tied. Toledo is up 1/2 game.
  2. Yes, anything can happen in a single elimination game. What I was more so wanting to get at is the only team that I want to avoid playing as long as possible is Toledo. I like Akron's chances against any of the other teams.
  3. The only team that concerns me is Toledo.
  4. If you have two teams that are tied for first, the first tie-breaker is head-to-head. Akron and Toledo split the season series. The next tie-breaker would be win percentage against 3rd place team. That's currently tied so it would move onto the 4th then 5th etc. until one has a better win percentage against the other against that same common opponent. Since our losses are to the 2 MAC cellar dwellers and Toledo's were to 2 middle of the MAC teams, we come out ahead.
  5. We would assuming we end the season with the same record. As of now Toledo has 1 more win than us.
  6. I always like winning the MAC regular season because if we fail to win the tourney, we still get the NIT as a consolation prize. Any postseason basketball is better than no postseason basketball.
  7. The NET rating is only 3 years old and there wasn't even a tournament played last year. That means only once has the selection committee picked a tournament field with the NET ranking being used as a metric. You might have NET confused with RPI.
  8. I wouldn't be surprised if the NIT gets cancelled
  9. There are 32 auto bids meaning there are only 36 at-large bids up for grab. Roughly 22 of those auto bids are from 1 bid conferences so really between the remaining 10 auto-bids and 36 at-large bids the committee is looking to put up what they feel are the most deserving 46 teams. If Akron finishes with a NET ranking of 60 their name won't even be mentioned as a candidate on the selection show. If you play in one of those 1 bid conferences, you net a net ~40 to be in serious discussion. As of now we have 0 Q1 wins and 2 Q4 losses. We will be fortunate to get an at-large to the NIT if we fail to win the MAC tourney.
  10. The MAC this season is the worst it has been in a number of years. No team is going to come close to sniffing an at-large bid at least in the NCAAT. Akron would be a bubble team for the NIT currently.
  11. That bracket has the 3 MAC schools as 7 & 8 seeds, which means really none of them would get in. The NIT gives auto bids to regular season conference winners who fail to win their conference tournament. There is usually 8-10 of those per year from 1 bid conferences. Those teams get the 7 & 8 seeds in the NIT.
  12. This was posted on a MAC sports thread. Apparently as of now the tournament is on, but seats will be limited.
  13. A MAC tournament better get played this year as there is no way all these games can be made up. It would be total BS if Akron finishes the season something like 15-4, but loses the conference because Toledo went 16-4.
  14. He has shown flashes that he could play. I said it when he entered that portal that I thought he would do well in a conference like the American East, which is where he ended up. The bigs there aren't as big or athletic as the MAC so he will have a physical advantage over most
  15. A lot of schools are hurting financially because of covid. Schools like OSU could certainly offer additional scholarships a crossed all sports and that would give them an even bigger competitive advantage compared to schools like us that are struggling to keep the lights on.
  16. Yes, I was confused by this as well. Littleson also picked up his 4th foul with about 6 minutes left. He's one of, if not the best, 3 & D guy in the MAC this year. Getting him or Jackson out of the game could have really changed the complexion of the game.
  17. You guys are looking at the wrong end of the court. We scored enough points to win. We lost because Toledo shot 50% from the field, 44% from 3, and 89% from the line. Add in they outrebounded by 9 and did a good job of not turning it over then it's easy to see why we lost. This was a team loss. You aren't going to win too many games when you need your team to score 92+ points in regulation to win
  18. You just aren't going to win games when your opponent shoots 50% from the field, 40% from 3, and 90% from the line. Add in the fact they're out rebounding us by 10 and it's surprising we're not down more
  19. Would be nice to attack the basket considering both their guards have 4 fouls
  20. Man the MAC sucks this year. The first 2 years these rankings came out I think the MAC had at most 1 team at any given moment ranked 300+. This year 25% of the conference is that low. Toledo has an NIT at-large resume. They won't sniff March Madness without the MAC's bid.
  21. The AAC doesn't want to be a part of the poll, which is why they're excluded. The WCC does want to be included, which is why Gonzaga is included.
  22. Frankly we need to play better team defense than we played 3 weeks. The #1 MAC defense shouldn't give up 83 points in regulation
  23. I feel we're playing better team basketball now than we were when we played Toledo 3 weeks back. Back then we kind of knew we were going to get 20+ from LCJ, but didn't know where else the points were going to come from. Now we're able to win games without LCJ needing to score much
  24. I'd say M. Jackson is in the competition as well. This award is as much an individual award as it is a team one. The last time a player won it and his team didn't finish top 2 in the MAC was the 2009-2010 season.
  25. It was great a few years ago when nearly every MAC conference game was on ESPN+. I not only was able to watch the Zips games, but I could flip to catch the end of some other games that interested me. It never gets boring to watch Kent lose.
