The plan (as I heard it) from the UTC contact was that they are interviewing 6. One of them is Arth, but he's not the strongest in the bunch and his payout if serious baggage for him.

Are we forgetting their almost trip to the Orange Bowl? They got the coach right that time.

As the interviewing process begins I'm curious what five questions all of you would ask the prospective hire if a ZipNationer were given a seat at the table. Frankly, I personally have no idea how to manage and coach a DI team with this budget. Look forward to reading your insights.

No leaks in the investigation...er...search. Benefit of search firm. We don't have multiple staff members and their assistants researching candidates, making phone calls.

Whose best interests? The ADs? I would hope he would make decisions in his best interests. Making a bad decision (which could include doing nothing) would conversely not be in his best interest. (Referring to 03/05's post)

Thank you. It's rather....uh... obnoxious for me and probably a few others who don't follow soccer to start questioning the rules and their unfair application. I appreciate your clarifying that. BTW there is a guard on the Zips basketball team who also gives some Oscar-worthy performances when an opponent brushes against him.

Agree. But I'm still questioning this "leading candidate" rumor/meme. There's something on the UTC blog from a new commit to UTC who met with Arth over the weekend.

This was an excellent adventure the UNSEEDED Zips took us on. Remember that West Virginia and Wake Forest were sitting at home! Didn't we lose to Virginia on penalty kicks? Who said it's a cruel sport? (for someone like me fairly new to the soccer thing, a team winning a national championship on a straight shot penalty kick or on a series of penalty kicks is absurd). For me it's back to the real cruelty of the MAC basketball season!

Ugh. More confident than I am when the men's basketball team is playing for the MAC championship. But that's not saying much. Both these teams are hot and in stride. Quite realistic about this

My contact at UTC (well-placed but with little sports knowledge) says that this isn't a done deal or even a deal at this point. As for their message board, I think they are being typical southern football fans who want Alabama-style success or a head on a platter.
