  1. Someone wrote on here awhile back that they thought our prior coach recruited for "the position" and Groce recruited for "the team.". That's likely too simplistic, of course. But I think I read somewhere that the players who stayed were allowed to have input on whether a recruit would fit in with the program. Whoever said Ivey may need to shake off last year's demons is probably on the right track. It always seemed like he wasn't happy fighting for time with Noah and Antino, etc.
  2. Sayles and Duvivier or Michael Hughes and Dunn-Martin? I know what my choice would be.
  3. Really appreciate all the analysis. For me, it was like a fresh start. I didn't have the expectations and angst that came with the last few seasons. Even when these guys were looking down and out there wasn't any panic, jawing, whining, finger-pointing. There were some crazy 3s and a few turnovers that everyone in the gym saw coming and a few questionable plays (Jimond in final minutes shooting a 3 early in the clock when we were up by 10 or so). But Groce and his staff seem to handle it well. He called that long time out at the end and settled everyone down.
  4. Such a different team and atmosphere. I was most impressed by their composure. They wore CSU down. Sayles and Parrish really stuck out to me as contributors. Fun, drama-free game. No walking it up the floor this year!
  5. But we control our own destiny? Right?
  6. I guess we are having those so-called "First World" Problems.
  7. Thank you for posting pics of your ticket book because that's the only way I will apparently ever see one since ours were never sent. Our on the ball ticket office didnt like have a check list of whose were sent. But they will be happy to print out some tickets and leave them at will call. What about the parking pass? "Crickets."
  8. It's still early folks. Anything can happen. Right?
  9. Cotton and Kostelac. (Although this is like throwing darts while blindfolded)
  10. Nope
  11. What led you to that conclusion?
  12. Thanks for the reminder. Something to watch tonight...
  13. Thank you. I needed someone to step in and crush all my high expectations and remind me how horrible it all is.
  14. OMG...do you have to pick apart everyone's posts and "correct" them in order for you to make the same point over and over again. Yes...you think last season was very successful. I disagree. Very successful TO ME (not you) would mean a NCAA bid and not a blow out loss to UT Arlington in the NIT. Now I will wait for you to tell me how wrong I am
  15. I was at game and it occurred right I'm front of my section, and while there was a definite hit to the head it certainly didn't look intentional. I have game on DVR and will need to watch a replay.
  16. We did? I guess when we don't win 20 games this year you will remind us again.
  17. I recall hearing about a secret scrimmage from last year against Michigan that supposedly foretold greatness. Then the Zips promptly lost to YSU.
  18. Go Iowa State! Huge win!
  19. What a fun game to attend! As I sat there in the cold and rain, I doubted we would win. The few of us left at the end were on our cold feet. After the game I learned that I was sitting next to the father-in-law of the offensive line coach. (I had to think quickly to myself what's Milwee's job again?) Then I realized the OC is different from the OLC. Anyway, the funny part is that that father-in-law, himself a former coach, went ballistic when Woodson didn't take a knee on the second to last play. The targeting penalty occurred right in front of me, and it looked like our player slipped or unintentionally hit the Buffalo guy's head. However, I knew that flag was coming. Also, looked like we got a generous ball placement on that one pass for a first down which they reviewed. I don't remember another close, back and forth game like that at Infocision. Makes for a much better evening.
  20. Thank you for posting this.
  21. 15-15, 20-10, 13-17...IDK what to expect and to me that's exciting.
  22. Honestly, I didn't know what "dribble penetration" was until this board pointed out it was happening repeatedly and often last season.
  23. Fourth in pre-season/first in Cleveland. I expect to see a team that gets back on defense, goes for steals even when we aren't behind by 15, and will attempt to stop dribble penetration. I also expect maybe a 15-15 team with some surprise wins rather than another 20+ win season with no marquee wins.
