  1. Groce has a saying about winning and deodorant...
  2. Remember when Bulls used to bring a big group of students and they'd sit in the upper corner?
  3. Zips have run the gauntlet before. They can again. That will all lead to a Saturday night match up with the DeKalb Huskies! Basically, Zips need to win at home and beat either Kent or Toledo to secure the 3rd seed OR hope for some help from the others. The Kittens must be licking their paws now that they are seemingly on their way to Cleveland. Ball State and Akron have the toughest schedules down the stretch. Would Ball State/NIU be the night game? Code Red dancing for an empty Arena.
  4. Ha. I was just going to post that. Love a true Saturday night MAC game. Best ticket in town!!!
  5. I listened to a few moments. Amani had a bruised back but was cleared to play. No need to risk it. Groce told Hunter he had a hunch about Nate and he would start. as for the other two no mention that i heard. Side note, the lead ref was the guy from the Akron/Kent game. he let them play. didn't call cheap fouls on X
  6. after my meltdown earlier, Zips have the biggest scoring margin of the night in the MAC
  7. someone didn't practice hard?
  8. you look at Tony Barbee at CMU. he has his guys, without two guards, fighting to the end. love for them to beat BG
  9. there is so much sickness going around wouldn't be surprised if a few are under the weather
  10. As I was saying...
  11. I know....and right on the point spread. playing terrible is the operable phrase, though. But we've been down this road before.
  12. You can look at how Kent, Toledo, Ball State, and Ohio are rolling tonight and this gets really depressing. Trust the process?
  13. I guess it's time to face the music.
  14. Imagine the "angst and dread" if the Zips were landing in DeKalb right about now.
  15. well, that should help in attracting a new coach...if it comes to that.
  16. happy valentine's day. gee, bodily function and odor seems to be the theme of the day. nice. I'm with LoyalZip as usual. Winning for the sake of winning doesn't mean much when the only true goal is to win the MAC tournament. It may put a few more people in the seats but...well, we know the rest. I'm not even that worried about the seeding. This is wide open. As for tonight, I was 100% indifferent going into EMU last year and had given my tickets away to that home NIU game. Don't expect much this evening and will check on the score every 30 minutes. I have my "John's Next Endeavor" and "Has Groce Lost the Team?" threads ready to go at a moment's notice.
  17. No problem dispatching Toledo
  18. I mentioned in another thread that succeeding at this level of coaching requires a decent amount of luck.
  19. Good conversation starter. Groce may be able to recruit and/build a more cohesive unit. Abreu and Noah, before felony and injury, were pretty good. Having LCJ or X at the helm in 2016 and 2017 would have been a game-changer.
  20. ''to whistle past the graveyard'' ''To attempt to stay cheerful in a dire situation."
  21. Here's the tourney simulator. http://bball.notnothing.net/bracket.php?conf=macm Frankly, doesn't matter to me who plays whom in what round. Trivia: in 2021, Ohio (at #5 took out #4 Kent State, #1 Toledo, and #2 Buffalo. In 2022, Akron did the same in reverse: Akron as #4 took out Buffalo, Toledo #1, and Kent #2. This is what I came up with.
  22. Just get to Cleveland. Right?
  23. Not a great weekend to be a Zip.
  24. #SaveMelissa. #FireGroce. #LostTheTeam. #Toledo'sB&%*$H
