With Ohio and Buffalo struggling, one can see how PCCC could run the table this year. The first week of March, you can't count on the Bobcats to knock off Pinky in Athens.
Watching the Buffalo/Toledo game and could tell the announcers were getting bored at the end. No intensity. Lay ups at will. I was half joking when I wrote yesterday that Pinky got lucky having his best team in a crappy MAC year. But I may have been on to something. I saw that EMU gets another Friday night game on 2/3. That had to be the Bates factor. Zips are beating low level competition.
Inauspicious start to the half. Man, I knew Western was going to come out and blow this open. The MAC isn't good this year. Unless Toledo can be something other than typical Toledo, PCCC picked the right year to have their best team in decades.
A sense of "unease" leading up to this game which is less than a "bad feeling" and a lot less than the "overwhelming feeling of dread" I usually experience during MAC tournament time.
The Zips players are tough as nails and I hold no misconceptions that they are perfect angels on and off court and in the lockerroom. And the Kostelac incident was a black eye. But the Flashes are low hanging fruit on this issue.
Whatever. Please. This is a sports message board. That's what we do at times. Trash the rivals. And BTW, they have a history of this going back to Singletary's gut punch. And the antics at the JAR last year. We all don't like each other. That's the fun of it. As for your "play ball" comment, maybe you should have directed that toward the kent players who trashed the Zips on social media. They should worry about playing ball...not the anonymous denizens of Zipsnation
As for the Toledo/Buffalo game, the most interesting aspect is that I learned that Coach Whitesell comes from a fascinating family from Iowa Falls. Two of his brothers were Hollywood actors and a third is a billionaire Hollywood agent formerly married to Jeff Bezos' girlfriend, Lauren Sanchez.
They certainly re-grouped after the embarrassing loss in the MAC final. They came into that on a 14 game winning streak, having won 16 out of final 17 games.
they have now doubled down on defense. They will force the Zips to shoot tough 3s and look for the transition basket. Ball State totally got punked at end of the first half. The announcers called it. We were giving Ball State a lot of props for beating the Zips. this was a dismal performance.
you know there's nothing wrong with having a B.S. and and maybe a MBA in your back pocket if the basketball thing doesn't work out or there's an injury.
20 hours since last post from @LoyalZIP. Any thoughts on games tomorrow night? Our friends, well sorta, at Over the Pylon are worshiping Ravenna Tech. I want Zips in a 1, 2, or 3 seed come March so maybe more losses for BSU would be better.
