I agree. The ABJ's behavior towards the Zips is so dismissive. But now...oh look you accomplished something in our minds...so we will send the great Marla Ridenour.

A sliver of Mogadore is in Portage County, hence East Mogadore Junior College.

this one is even worse: https://www.bruinzone.com/b12/index1.shtml OMG: https://www.bruinzone.com/b12/messages/85941.shtml . "Acron Zips" LOL>I didn't know one of our double figure scorers was off the team. And this game should be over by halftime. https://www.bruinzone.com/b12/messages/85944.shtml

https://bruingold.com/forums/index.php?az=show_topic&forum=102&topic_id=182715 A smart UCLA fan watched the replay of the MAC Championship game. I wonder if they could find East Mogadore on a map?

In case u were wondering where the Zips are at the moment.
-
your post of never wanting to see Ali, Trimble (you got your wish) or Castaneda, in a Zips uniform ever again was an instant classic. Those 8 days in February were pretty grim on here. I was ready to start a "John's next endeavor" thread.

This is pretty cool. Zips are at 12.40. If you want some heart failure, watch at 3.00 minutes: UTC has 4.3 secs (same as Buffalo had in the q-finals) and they get off a contested 3 from almost the same spot as the Segu's did. UTC's went in.

@Z.I.P. you lost me on this. huh?

Agree. This regular season doesn't count schtick is a risky maneuver. That 4/5 game was inches or a bank shot away from ending all this on Thursday. I think this year Groce and Ford needed to adapt on the fly. Next year probably wont need to do that. Between 2010 and 2012, was 2011 and DJ Cooper and friends were a 5 seed and lost in the quarters to Ball State a 4 seed in OT. I would love to see a replay of that game.

does anyone have a good link for the transfer portal. The one i found is really hard to use.
-
These guys aren't reciting Shakespeare or swapping recipes in the locker room. I get that. Groce who is amazing at PR had the team singing the Blue and Gold if there is a camera around. Groce and his staff aren't saints. He had Basset at Ohio and some sketchy guys at Illinois and a few here I'm sure. KD had to recruit some less than stellar guys to compete with Kent. That can work in the short term but eventually bites you. As someone posted on the buffalo message board...Toledo going to Toledo (choke) and Kents going to Kent.

FYI: The Kent State men’s squad will play in The Basketball Classic, and will open at Southern Utah (20-11) Wednesday night in Cedar City. Tip-off is set for 9 p.m. local time. KSU will make its fifth postseason appearance under 11th-year head coach Rob Senderoff.

Really is time for a fresh start. Put Dambrot and the bad memories behind the program. Marla was right about that in her column. Was a good take. After 5 years ? With Groce, new Era. I went to a sort of send off to Cleveland for the 2017 team. There was such bad energy in the JAR. You can see how stressed KD was as he tried to convince the faithful that THIS would be the year. When I went up this last Saturday, that overwhelming dread was gone.

The QFinal game against Buffalo was really like a final. The top 5 teams all could have won minus Ohio, who was struggling with fatigue, illness, and injury.
-
To be fair, beating BG isn't EVER a challenge for the Zips.

2021-2022 Zips Women's Basketball
NWAkron replied to clarkwgriswold's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Isn't that rather cool since POY Dawson is from West Virginia? -
TOS to Ball State. Bad news for us but super news for our friends in Muncie. Of course, they are relying on an updated Wiki post: https://overthepylon.boards.net/thread/4518/whit

Saw a couple references on Twitter to Akron getting the worst draw along with St. Peters. Colgate apparently has a better chance against Wisconsin in Milwaukee.
-
South Dakota State is like Wofford from a few years back. All about the 3s. That makes an exciting game to watch. Eventually, Wofford's Fletcher Magee went cold and they were out in second round.

We all know that had Mogadore East won with Sincere and the 15 game win-streak the media would be all over them. Sincere has a name and an attitude that makes good copy. Our star sent an email to the coaching staff asking for a try out. If the Zip win, that will become a bigger story but for now the media sees it as quaint.
-
and they shouldn't. a month ago, the team was horrible. Zips will need hit lights out from 3 to have a chance. there is always an upset or two but last year Virginia was struggling coming into the tournament and played a slow, deliberate offense (high score in the 6 weeks prior was 73) like the Zips do and OU with Preston was a perfect foil much like the 2021 Zips would have been.
-
the seats were filled at the end of the 2020 season. COVID was a bigger culprit. Having that proven winning team will bring them back.

2010 win coming from 9th seed I believe. Wins first round at Ball State in OT 2011 comes in as 5 seed and beats Toledo and ironically loses to Ball State in the quarterfinals again in OT 2012 new double bye format. Ohio 3rd seed beat Toledo, Buffalo, and Akron (hmm sounds familiar) What the hell happened in 2011? I think I would have some memory of it.
