  1. You never know. I think Groce is playing 3 dimensional chess and trying to drop down to the 7th or 8th seed to avoid Buffalo or Kent in the first round.
  2. i guess someone whom I blocked is posting.
  3. Calling the players losers and ad hominem attacks on the university don't help the posters on here to understand what is going on. Following up on Clark's point, it's hard to keep the perspective that moods and emotions can flip 180 if a ball bounces differently. And the fate of careers can also hinge on a bad call or a missed FT. We hear often that had Brian Walsh made his shot...would Groce have gone to Illinois. Had the Zips ended the game against Kent better would we be in this conversation today. If you are Bates at WMU or Melissa Jackson (who i hopefully underestimated) you can get away with some excuses because you aren't being paid a lot and expectations are low. No excuses apply for Groce. He's paid incredibly well to make things work. From recruiting to calling the final play of a half, it all falls on him. At this point I don't walk into the JAR feeling good or expecting much. It's not quite as bad as walking into Infocision on a Tuesday night but it's getting there. And that feeling comes from knowing exactly how things are going to play out: a dull start, maybe some panic and excitement, and then either a lucky break or a fail. Someone posted Groce's results from each year. He should have four goals each season: 1. Beat Kent at the JAR 2. Beat Kent twice 3. win regular season championship 4. win the MAC tournament. In his 6th year (or is it his 5th), Groce is going to whiff on all of those
  4. His first year they best WMU in K-Zoo to reach Cleveland. I'm very concerned. Groce is highly paid. Middle of MAC isn't good enough. Other teams managed thru COVID: OU, Toledo, Kent. The Golden years of Zips basketball are in the rear view mirror. Major recruiting fails led to this.
  5. Do you still want Ali, Xavier, and Trimble to hit the transfer portal?
  6. Looking back on this season, I was struck by what happened with KJ Walton. I remember an interview Groce gave and he talked about sitting Walton down and lecturing him about how things were going to be on the team. A few weeks later he left. This is total conjecture on my part but Groce seems to have these expectations that aren't going to be met by this group of players. I hesitate to compare men's to women's basketball but watch Melissa Jackson and she has such a good attitude during the game and the players seem to respond to her. Groce and Ford seem angry all the time. They certainly have reason to be but not sure anyone other than Freeman responds to them. I see this basketball program going the route of Bowling Green. Groce is highest or second highest paid coach in the MAC and is now is dropping into the middle of the conference. This team isn't winning a game in Cleveland. This is painful basketball to watch even when they win.
  7. This isn't your mother's CMU team that's for sure. However, the Zips closed the gap before half. When they came out in the 3rd period, they had pulled themselves together, adjusted, and dominated CMU the remainder of the game. Akron didn't make a 3 until the 4th period. I think Jordyn had 29 points. She really is the male LCJ. She makes things happen on both ends of the floor. Big game Saturday against Kent. And, yes, Coach Jackson is surprising me, and I stand corrected. FYI: The Zips sit in 3rd place but the gap between 3rd and 8th is 2.5 games.
  8. Morehead's stock is rising. Groce is falling. Not sure who Sean Blevins is, but he's addressing some of the issues many of you write about.
  9. Never seen anything like that from a team. Classless. But Zips blew it.
  10. All they had to do was shoot it. Massive choke
  11. Wow. Just awful. Kent players taunt the fans. Pinky smirks.
  12. Much like Ohio U game.
  13. Kent to 60 first.
  14. X looks tired.
  15. Like I said...they have Santiago. Flashes are clutch
  16. Garvin...geez. hero ball.
  17. If this comes down to final secs, Flashes have Santiago and Carry. Just not feeling this.
  18. Groce using a Charlie Coles strategy. Time outs, break the rhythm.
  19. Clutch 3s to give Kent separation. Look back as key moment
  20. Tribble and Freeman on bench most of half. So lucky to be in this.
  21. Zips haven't beat a top team in MAC other than a Buffalo team without a coach or Mballa. So this about right
  22. 23% from floor. Flashes packing it in. Making Zips take 3s. They watched the Florida games.
  23. Maybe that explains why they look tougher
  24. Not liking much of anything. Kent looks like a much tougher and smooth team. Totally out classing the Zips.
  25. Despite the monsoon, JAR is filling up. Lots of Garretsville inbreds.
