  1. I'm bored: $725,000 in Eugene, Oregon: https://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/85782-Lorane-Hwy_Eugene_OR_97405_M14029-44351 $567,000 in Akron, Ohio: https://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/1538-Acacia-Dr_Akron_OH_44333_M34972-37001
  2. at least no Bobby Petrino rumors....yet.
  3. First season he went to the Orange Bowl!! Lost all of his bowl games. Team was average after 2014. But the type of "average" the Zips haven't seen in a long, long time.
  4. Catch him at the Marshall game on Wednesday. He will be walking around.
  5. I've been all over the last search committee but they may have been severely hamstrung by the interim pres and the board. But Tom Arth? I had a queasy feeling when UTC was happy to get rid of him.
  6. USC, Oklahoma, and Virginia Tech are sucking up all the talent. In a bidding war, Zips are going to lose.
  7. We are all hoping for the best and ignoring reality: the phrase "whistling past the graveyard" comes to mind.
  8. Western Michigan has the Stryker family, who donated a medical school but haven't done much for athletics.
  9. I 100% agree. There's a school of thought that Larry W wanted to make the big moves but was always shut down so he continued to make mediocre hires: Arth and Melissa Jackson come to mind. And the Groce hire save the university a lot of $ upfront. Illinois was essentially paying him to coach here. And something has to be done big now or just give up on football and watch Infocision turn into something like those creepy abandoned amusement parks you can find on YouTube.
  10. Maybe there was a typo somewhere and it's Orgeron and not Oregon.
  11. We are getting our hopes up but I would love some Oregon style uniforms...all in gold!
  12. athletics spending is a shell game for sure. guess we wouldn't want salaries depending on the whim of a donor.
  13. I don't think donations can directly pay coaches salaries.
  14. I agree. Those in power have to know what what drag this program is on the university and community.
  15. love your optimism. yes, if he can make it work and succeed, he is on his way to Power 5 and a $12mill. contract Excellent point. There has to be a complete re-branding. Everything tired and crappy from the Zips football experience has to go.
  16. Frankly, I can't think of a reason. Larry Williams and Tom Arth successfully crushed what was left of the brand. Billy Napier made $2mill at Louisiana-Lafayette and is now going to Florida. Why come to Akron and make $600K when other non-power 5 schools pay over $1mill.
  17. Feldman has excellent sources. He's predicting hires and fires before they are announced.
  18. Maybe if the Zips do 4 pay to play games at 1.5 mill a piece.
  19. U missed the point, of course. But let me reiterate for you...a MAC east championship that led to a blow out in the MAC Championship, a humiliating loss to Lane Kiffin in the Tart Cherry Boca Raton Bowl and then a total collapse the following year. How about we stop making excuses and only expect excellence. A MAC east championship ISN'T a MAC Championship. And with Akron that year, it was comparable to an 8th seed making it to the finals of the MAC basketball tournament only to lose by 30 to the #1 seed followed by a 25 point loss in the first round of the CBI.
  20. I'm with you Loyal. I turned on a minute of the game today, and I think I saw Akron at first and goal as time ran out i the first half? 2nd & 10 at TOL 39 (0:34 - 2nd) Kato Nelson pass complete to Jr. Oran Singleton for 9 yds to the Toled 30 3rd & 1 at TOL 30 (0:04 - 2nd) Kato Nelson pass complete to Jr. Oran Singleton for 23 yds to the Toled 7 for a 1ST down (0:04 - 2nd) Timeout AKRON, clock 00:04 1st & Goal at TOL 7 (0:00 - 2nd) Kato Nelson sacked by Jamal Hines for 0 yards to the Toled 10 They call time out and Kato is sacked. Kick a field goal. This is soooo ICoach. Except for 2 or 3 games in the Arth and ICoach era, Akron could not convert in the red zone. If Akron made a great pass or run, we had to hope they would get a TD because if they stopped them anywhere short of the goal line Akron wasn't going to put up anything more than a field goal. Loathe is a strong word but that is how I feel about Larry Williams, Arth, that "Interim President" who didn't give a crap about athletics.
  21. Lost by 17 and then by 47 in the Boca Raton Bowl. Lucked in with win over Ohio. Wasn't that like Kato's best game? Then won first 2 games of the next season, including then ranked Northwestern, and finished by losing 8 of the last 10 including the last 5.
  22. Getsy seems risky to me. I like the former Marshall coach.
