Hopefully, Arth's firing informs all of the coaches that they better produce. Melissa Jackson, another "nice" person, was handed the job by Williams, who probably had ZERO interest in women's basketball, and she's accomplished zilch.
In the basketball thread do not refer to the team from Portage County by their "given" name. You have many other options including (or make up your own):
PCCC (Portage County Community College)
Ravenna State
Streetsboro Junior College
Portage County School of Fashion and Design
PCCC @ Garrettsville
Brimfield Tech
PCCC's basketball coach "The Dean of the Mac" is known as "Pinky." And we are all very happy they keep renewing his contract.
Maybe, but I think there was over a 90% chance they were going to lose the next 3 games and likely by quite a lot. The Ball State game had 1 1/2 quarters of quality football and it was fun to watch. I never saw that type of play during the ICoach years. But why did it take to the last quarter of the 9th game of his 3rd season (yes, last year doesn't completely count) to get that type of quality play where they are driving and scoring and making 2 point conversions? I don't know the answer. And then Gibson made that fumble. There was 1 minute 30 seconds left and Ball State had 2 time outs and down by 2. I'm thinking the odds were 50/50 the Zips were still going to lose. You can't run a railroad that way...hopes and prayers. Life isn't always fair.
Had Gibson not fumbled or Akron recovered the fumble and won, it shouldn't change how Arth is evaluated. They had one quarter of stellar football. A turnover by the QB cost Michigan their game. That stuff happens and thank god it wasn't in the MAC championship game or to become bowl eligible. I mentioned a while back that Bowden was able to pull out a few wins here and there to keep his contract alive. I think Bowden was able to win the MAC East at the end of his contract only to get pummeled by Toledo and then FIU and then get a renewal(if I remember correctly. It's all a blur). So to 94zipgrad's point, our hopes are up but last night shouldn't (who am I to say?) change the overall evaluation of Arth. It's nice that 9 games in the Zips finally have a QB and like in basketball they own the BG Falcons.
