  1. Love Tom Arth. Give that man a raise!!!
  2. They really have a way of stifling momentum right before the half
  3. I'm not watching. I assume they effed up their final drive and came away with no points?
  4. That's how I felt walking out of Infocision
  5. What happened to Irons?
  6. I just looked up the score, hoping against hope.
  7. Fearless forecast: Confident BG seeks revenge for last year's drubbing and pounces hard on the Zips Zips lose by +21 Arth gone by Tuesday
  8. It's all quite insufferable. But what is there left to say?
  9. Bring on the t shirt cannon!
  10. I guarantee Those who guaranteed the athletic dept 3.6mill don't feel like idiots
  11. There's a need for a thread? I'd rather close my eyes, plug my ears, and pretend this game isn't happening. 34 days until Akron v Ohio State!!
  12. Agree that TB lost interest and it seemed to me like he was merely collecting a pay check and doing the minimum. No doubt Arth is working harder. But, once again, football isn't a drain on the university. in a matter of 3 weeks, the program brought in 3.6 million. managing that stadium must cost a ton but they aren't going to abandon it or tear it down.
  13. I think that may have happened last time. I'm "gathering, guessing, assuming" that there were a few on there with limited football knowledge. For example, I wouldn't be good on a search committee for a football coach because I don't know enough about the nuts and bolts of building the team, recruiting, etc. I would probably defer to those with more knowledge. Next time that probably won't happen.
  14. Once the emotion leaves the room, the decision comes down to $$, a pros and cons list, and whether more damage will be done to the school and program by keeping Arth or letting him go. Almost all universities lose $$ on athletics. So while KSU or BSU or whoever have an uptick in the winning % their football programs aren't necessarily bringing in any more money than Akron's. Akron made $3.6 mill in pay to play. If another MAC school only earned $3.3, Akron is still probably ahead of them for the year. I would say let him finish out the year.
  15. Assistants don't have the final say on the hire and can't overrule their boss. I posted elsewhere that if the AD is picking the search committee that will lead to group-think.
  16. I don't recall reading these were the final 3. Jasper has had a rough time as late: Navy fired him as OC and then re-hired him as QB coach. Drayton is still RB coach for a good Texas team. There must have been some serious "group think" going on during the decision-making process. And I wonder if Williams chose anyone for the committee who would disagree with him or had more or equal football knowledge.
  17. A coach with half the sleeze of Bowden and half the purity of Arth.
  18. I think it will be after BG next week.
  19. The obsession with defending Bowden is just weird. He's gone. Arth will be gone. Wistricill is gone. Wiliams is gone. Now it all falls onto Guthrie.
  20. 41 days until basketball season.
  21. I think the university is stabilizing other areas, but a big, bold decision by Guthrie here would do wonders for the fan base. I'm with Hilltopper. Pay off this bum. It's a bad relationship and I hate just looking at Arth. And I want the names of the search committee who chose Arth. There needs to be a wall of infamy where their mug shots can be hung. Maybe in the weight room.
  22. I thought that was a make up for some of the lost Nebraska $$ but it also took care of the buyout
  23. Agree with Clark. During the last 24 years I've followed Zips football, I can count on one hand, the highlights, and even those weren't that big of a deal: 1. MAC championship 2. Potato Bowl 3. A few wins over Ravenna State, including the Snow Bowl. In between, we've had Ianello, a bunch of bad years (and a few decent moments) with Bowden and now Arth. I sympathize with Miller and Guthrie. It's got to be brutal trying to figure out how to escape this toxic miasma hanging over the university's athletic's program. Fortunately, the bad football earned the university $3.6 million. Who are the pay to play teams next year? Is Tennessee the third? If they are, that may be the Arth buyout $$.
  24. ugh. there's plenty of cause. but probably not the "cause" we need. if Arth decided to sue he would need to go to the Court of Claims.
  25. that would be the most we can expect.
