Had WMU won by one point on a field goal (after the missed PAT) THEN it would have been a typical Akron night, although the basketball team was quite impressive.
Couple more games to get over the hump.
I was really impressed with the Zips. I couldn't believe this was the first game of the season. the defense, the fight, the clutch plays, the comebacks. Awesome game. Whether they beat a "ranked" team doesn't so much matter to me. That doesn't matter too much (or at all) come March. And Ohio State may not be ranked too long for all we know. Beating Ohio State would have been incredibly awesome for Akron and Groce. Super game. I liked that he could play so many players.

This is so lame. They talk about the backcourt of Trimble and LC Jackson being dangerous Tuesday night. ????
It doesn't. The posting isn't to help. It's to irritate.
Also, I read through it and it's just click bait garbage. The only criticism of the stadium was that the football team was bad.
I've never been in it to "snap out of it." No Notre Dame! I don't what occurred in the Arth hire, but we had an interim president at the time who hated sports. We also had people on the search committee with no football knowledge. It's like they sent an email to "central casting" and asked them to send up a "football coach."
a bad basketball team is more likely to beat a top 10 team than a bad football team is to beat a top 10 team
And the basketball players aren't being tackled by 300 pound linebackers
I don't know how Miller and Guthrie are going to do it, but they need to make a splash with this hire. Someone who immediately draws attention from the community. And they don't need a search firm to do that. Figuring how tight Miller and Guthrie are with the dollar, I would think/hope they would bypass the search firm. As many said on here, they surely didn't need one to find John Groce. They picked him up in Phoenix during the Final Four. They knew where to find him
good observation. it's known that the search committee last time had people on it with ZERO football knowledge. They hired an image. Their fantasy successful coach. The dream became a nightmare fast.
Hopefully, Arth's firing informs all of the coaches that they better produce. Melissa Jackson, another "nice" person, was handed the job by Williams, who probably had ZERO interest in women's basketball, and she's accomplished zilch.
