  1. I was in Winston-Salem today and near the football stadium is a street named Akron Drive. I think this is an omen that we should schedule them, what do you think?
  2. 8 home games for Penn State in 2009, that should be illegal.
  3. 31-30 Zips win
  4. I have been looking over the roster and I am quite impressed with the overall depth and skill of the team. It looks to be quite good at all spots. I have three concerns. QB, WR, and DB. QB - I think Jac will be better than last year. If not, we better be able to run it with the talent we have at the position. I think Rodgers is a year or so away.WR - Andre Jones is a great playmaker, Bowser and Bruce could be good, there are other seniors who should be solid contributors. I am hopefull that this position will hold its own.DB- There is alot of talent. There is not much experience. Lets hope that improved pass rush covers some potential problems in this area.Overall - I think the Zips have more top to bottom talent than they ever have. If QB play and DB's come along, it could be a good season. If either of those areas do not develop then it will be our achilles heel.
  5. I think we all need to appreciate how special Nate Linhart's defensive ability is. He is a shut down defender. He has to be the favorite next year for defensive player of the year in the MAC. He was unbelievable last night. He gave everything he had and then some extra. He was totally gassed at the end which is why he missed free throws but his defense and Dials clutch shooting is what won the game. Oh yeah, I think this is the best game plan I have ever seen Dambrot utilize. The team defense against the pick-n-roll was incredible. They continually hedged the ball handler off his path and totally disrupted the offense. I look forward to another great game plan and effort against UMass. The two best defensive teams I have seen all year, in all of college basketball are Akron and Can't. I really respect Dambrot for not switching into a zone even though the announcers kept thinking he would. Akron's message to the big schools is this: "We are going to play you man-to-man and beat you, enough said!"

  9. Believe me, I am as upset as anyone about the basketball snub situation. It is time for all the mid-major schools to get together and state their cases in both football and basketball. They should create a mid-major BCS type system and use their collective power to align bowl games and maybe have their own ncaa tournament. Let's look at both football and basketball. The biggest task is to get scheduling fairness. How is it fair to have all the major schools play their non-conference games at home? FootballThe national champs U. of Florida played 12 regular season games last year. 7 were at home and 5 on the road. Conversely, the University of Akron played 5 games at home and 7 on the road. This creates an unfair advantage in college football. Why? Show me the money. The mid-majors should ban together and get the NCAA to pass a resolution stating that every team should play an equal number of home/away games. BasketballDrexel played 17 away games this year and 12 home games. Akron played 16 away games, 13 home games.Ohio State played 19 home games, 11 away games. How can a mid-major compete when it plays all its games away from home? Again, the NCAA should mandate that teams play an equal number of home/away games for each sport.
  10. I just joined the board even though I have been reading it for sometime now. I gotta get a fix on the signing day. Any word on when the signees will be announced?
