Iowa State is using its third tier broadcast rights on the South Dakota State game, so the Akron game should fall under the Big 12 TV agreement and be available through most cable and satellite subscriptions.

An Akron perspective of Iowa State’s football schedule (inspired by one I saw posted last year from a Penn State perspective): 1. Jackronabbits (South Dakota State) 2. I-Zippo-W-A (Iowa) 3. North Akron QB Academy #1 (Baker Mayfield’s Oklahoma) 4. The University of Akron 5. Team Canton United (TCU) 6. North Akron QB Academy #2 (Brandon Weeden’s Oklahoma State) 7. Southeast Akron (West Virginia) 8. Red Roo-ders (Texas Tech) 9. University of Zip Wins in Football (Kansas) 10. Bayloroos 11. UT-Austrkon (Texas) 12. Coach Goodcentury (Bill Snyder, the vampire, may never die) 13. Goodyear Cotton Bowl

Didn't quite know what to say in response to the article, but this was perfect!

Nice. Iowa State just gives us a sheet of tickets. And once you tear them all off and use them, you have nothing left but the mailing address label. I like having tickets bound like this. Classy. Jealous.

Mike Rose from Brecksville is getting some attention during Fall Camp. https://cyclonefanatic.com/2018/08/true-freshman-mike-rose-in-the-mix-at-mike-lb/

C. Do not underestimate the delusion present in the Nebraska fan base. They talk about the national championships like they were yesterday . . . and just around the corner in the future. Go [Home] Big Red!
-
Such a delusional fan base. They think just bringing in a new coach will change everything back to what it used to be. I've got news for you. The players for them now aren't as good as they were before. Looking forward to the wake-up call that will come from the Zips. P.S. Each time you score, listen for the roar of approval that will come westward from Ames.

Seems like Kato has settled into the starting role pretty well. True? I don't read anything about the hot-headedness anymore. Although, we will see as the QB competition heats up.
-
You had me there for a minute.
-
Do you know what the N on the Nebraska helmets stands for? kNowledge! One of our favorite ways to refer to them in print is as "kNU"
-
Is Kato the back-up QB who came in late in the Iowa State game last year? If so, he seemed like a bit of a hot-head. I haven't heard much said about this, so I'm assuming that calmed down (or it isn't him).

I hope you roll into Ames with a 2-0 record and end the season with a 10-2 record (losses to Buffalo and Iowa State).
-
Got me. I kinda walking right into that one.
-
Hope he gets lots of action during Week 4.

Don't underestimate the traffic going through Chicago. Northwestern is north on the far side of the city right along the lake. You might want to consider taking I-55 to the McCormick Center and then LakeShore Drive and Sheridan Road if the I-90/94 is too slow going through downtown. Or take Western Avenue north if traffic is slow at the I-90/94 Edens split (which is the best in low traffic, but takes you northwest, just to come east on Peterson or Dempster).
-
Interesting. Hope he works out well for you. My sense is that late transfers can be pretty unsettling for the team, but lots of that depends on the personality of the player and whether he is in good shape when he comes.

I think Gilbert and Bell will have less solo tackles, but that is because they will draw more attention from blockers and others will have to step up for the tackles.

The discomfort in Columbus is a little bonus to the August warmup to the season.
-
So is Campbell even on the list from your perspective?
-
Iowa State fans are worked up into a lather because they think tOSU may poach our coach. I'm hearing lots of talk in Iowa and in national media, but not from Ohio sources. What are you hearing? My sense is that it would be a long shot because Campbell hasn't yet done nearly enough to be in the running.

If Iowa State wins its third game of the season, they should be ranked. It is Oklahoma!

We had an interesting event in Ames last week. 20,000+ bicyclists stayed overnight in town. It is part of RAGBRAI, and annual bike ride (party) across Iowa. 70 miles per day with lots of eating and drinking along the way. It is a protected route with 7 overnight towns (start by dipping your back tire in the Missouri River on Sunday and end by dipping your front tire in the Mississippi River on Saturday). At any rate, Ames was one of the towns this year and added something special. When riders came into town, they could take a Cyclone Loop around the football field. They've never had anything like this in the past. It was really cool. https://www.inside.iastate.edu/article/2018/07/26/overheadragbrai The last time that RAGBRAI used Ames as an overnight town, we had a team of 20+ riders from the Akron area who stayed at our house.

Still have a few of the "best cheap seats" in the stadium available. Single game tickets from the Ticket Office are $60, $45, or $30. I've got tickets I would sell for $30 that are much better than anything you can get from the Ticket Office at that price. And if you don't buy them, you know what will happen, they will just get taken by Cyclone fans!

Great idea! Anyone want to make a bet related to the Iowa State game? If you win, I'll fly this flag at our tailgate after the game (prominent location along University Drive). If we win, you'll fly an Iowa State flag at a tailgate for your next game in Akron.

I think Iowa State is using its game with South Dakota State for the one that is on our own Cyclones.tv network, so at least you won't have to deal with that for our game.
