  1. I do. Ah how the seasons change. Though to be fair, I believe he was getting at the concept of "sustained winning." He didn't exactly word it the way I'd prefer.
  2. Wow, thanks for the research! Going back through 05-06', a .785 winning percentage. #domination #gozips #wouldn'tlosetoNIU
  3. I love it. You know, this gets me thinking - does anyone know our winning percentage against the MAC West over the last few years? I'm thinking it's got to at least be over .750, even including postseason. I don't think we've lost any more than 2 in a season within the last 3 or 4 years.
  4. It'll be difficult to have an RPI low enough for at-large consideration when Creighton continues to lose.
  5. This subject comes up every year, and we know the result will be that only one in the MAC will get in to the tourney, BUT... As I see it, the only way for us to get an at-large is to literally win out, get into the MAC finals, and lose to OUt. I don't see any other way for it to happen. And even then it depends on seeding and how OUt does the rest of its season. But a loss in the finals to any other team would dash any at-large chance. We have too many bad losses. Either way, let's just win this thang and get the automatic!!! Oh, and Can't still sucks!
  6. We have lived and died by 3s for a decade now
  7. Zeke is stepping up big now
  8. To be down 1 while only going 3-13 from the charity and under 40% from the field is actually a good thing.
  9. We'll take it!
  10. The Zips are bigger down low, deaper off the bench, and just flat out more talented. Akron runs away with this one... UA: 78 BG: 63
  11. Well, let's take a weekend break from MAC basketball and think about bracketbusters, shall we (and something other than 'we should've gotten Iona', please)? A few points: 1. My biggest concern is that this team has lost one game at home this year - in NOVEMBER! I'm not quite sure if this is a result of a homer-friendly environment or they just flat out win there. 2. They've beaten arguably stronger teams (other than Miss St and even that's becoming more questionable). 3. On the other hand, our Zips are hot and on pace to have the best MAC record in better than two decades. 4. A small, albeit still existent, fear is that we somehow overlook this matchup for the inevitable and up-and-coming @OU, UB, and @Ken+ gauntlet. [i love] Oral will no doubt pack their house for this one. I believe both teams stand to lose a lot in terms of RPI and momentum should they lose. The winner may benefit in terms of bragging rights, but no real shot at at-large here (maybe outside chance). Final: ORU 68, ZIPS 66 (if we get homered like I think we will) ZIPS 60, ORU 55 (if impartial refs let em play and we D up)
  12. This may have already been discussed so I apologize if so. But what's the deal with the new Basketball Power Index (BPI) on ESPN? They say it improves on the flaws of RPI and is more accurate overall. The reason I ask is because it would appear that an Akron (BPI #57) win over Oral (BPI #65) would pretty much not be a help for our at-large chances. It would, however, be a must win. Does anyone think this index is the new standard as far as tournament picking or is this just some ESPN gimic?
  13. Have a seat Whitfield!
  14. Gotta take advantage while Western is in foul trouble
  15. Well, the Vegas spread is -13.5. I honest to God am thinking about taking those odds. Thoughts?
  16. I NEVER quote myself but - here's your dark horse MVP of the MAC tourney.
  17. I think I mcclanCAN... I think I mcclanaCAN... I think I mcclanaCAN... I DID I DID!!! FOR THREEEEEEEEEE
  18. Here come the Sweaters
  19. O-Who can't rebound and their defense is speculative at best. While their offense is clicking, it'll take more than scoring to top a blue hot Zips team. Even in the Convo, Zips come out on top. Akron 67 O-Who 61
  20. Z FENSE!! (BOOM BOOM) Z FENSE!! (BOOM BOOM). Cryami always D's it up real good against us, even at home. It'll be a close one. Zips prevail at the free throw line to seal it Akron 63 Cryami 60
  21. +1. This was a great overall game. It is extremely refreshing to see the Zips be where they were expected to be. Agreed! I was thinking "Greaaaat, just another disappointment following some hype going in". Especially after EMU. This team has really learned to play to their strengths and minimize/improve upon weaknesses. Getting hot just at the right time!
  22. I am SOOOOO glad we didn't have another OT game! That woulda been physically a killer.
  23. Wasn't talking about last year. No need to be an idiot.
  24. OK guys - it's the elephant in the room.We all know we're deeper, as quick if not quicker, more experienced, and favored over WMU. The question is whether yesterday's extended play will affect less desirable outcomes tonight. Various WMU bloggers claim victory over the AK because of our OTs. My concern may not necessarily be tonight so much as, if and when, we win going into tomorrow. We all know how difficult it becomes for the teams that play four games in 6 days. We about played a whole other half yesterday evening. Thoughts?
