Bump for update. For the most part PWOs are not on this list. There are a handful of players on the departures list that may have earned scholarships by the time they left. There are so few in that scenario that I’m not going to reach out and ask. All signings should be scholarship players. I’m also still waiting on some type of confirmation on the verbal commitments. As of now, we are tied for 3rd place in Rivals Comprehensive Rankings. We finished tied for 1st last year. In my opinion, bare minimum expectations should be a bowl game in 2024.

Class of '24 Recruits & Verbal Commitments

Seems like this would be a no brainer and a way to build some excitement. Outside of the first class, there hasn’t been much of anything like that. -

Yes, outside of a few exceptions. I’ve seen far more PWO commitments, and FCS or below, than anything at the FBS level today. -

This has been the most uneventful national signing day I can recall. The first signing day, along with the portal, has really changed recruiting. In any case, it’s another great class and I assume we’ll fill the last handful of spots with JUCO and/or portal guys. -

His commitment puts us tied for the 2nd best recruiting class in the MAC. We’ll see what tomorrow brings. -
JUCO DB on campus for a OV.

I think so. Both had a number of P5 offers coming out of HS and David was rated a 4 star by Rivals. Greenwood started 7 or 8 games in 2020, but has since seen his playing time decrease. David has mostly been a special teams contributor with minimal snaps on defense. They are both physical players and tackle well, which aligns with the type of DBs that Renna and Bell recruit. There is a lot of unproven in the secondary, but easily the most talent since Moorhead’s arrival. There is a good chance this year’s defense is one of the best in the MAC. -

Looks like safety Aman Greenwood from Syracuse has also been added. I’m assuming Greenwood, Fields, and David are on scholarship, wile Freeman and Mobley are PWO. Terray Jones has been removed. Sean Conroy is still listed and apparently applying for a 5th year of eligibility. -
It’s just the flow of things at this level. Hard to hire a proven position coach with the salary being offered. Remains to be seen how well these two coaches do, but overall Moorhead has assembled an impressive staff.

I think everyone is listed. Jermarian Jackson should be removed as he flipped to Virginia. -
Looks like Matviko is now the Special Teams Coordinator and Shuster will be QBs coach.

Recruiting: Offense & Defense

That’d certainly be great if it turned out that way. I try to give every player a fair assessment and am certainly wrong from time to time, but haven’t seen anything as of yet to make me say something along those lines. The whole secondary is basically up for grabs at this point, so we’ll see how it all shakes out! -
No kidding! Also, every one of their conference opponents will have a new QB than who they finished the year with except maybe Bowling Green.

Recruiting: Offense & Defense

Zayden is a DB on the roster. He is listed under CBs in the 2023 class. Verbatim I said “Laing-Taylor and White have plenty of ability, but redshirted.” There is a family connection with Taylormade and Zayden. Taylormade has posted in different threads about the desire to see the freshmen play and I believe even had the opportunity to see Zayden play in a game on special teams this past year. If I recall correctly? I honestly dont know what point is trying to be conveyed. The thread was originally meant to focus on just the recruiting of the current staff and highlight the hits, the misses, and potential currently on the roster, but has somehow warped into something else. -
Click here. Another challenging schedule awaits.

I’m confused? Are you referring to DBs that transferred in or out? Or in particular Zayden? If so, was I incorrect in saying he redshirted or incorrect in saying he has plenty of ability? -
Coach Lembo wasting no time.
-
Looks like Ryan Matviko is the new QBs coach. I believe he was an offensive analyst last season.

Which part are you referring to? -
DE Antonio Smith in the portal.

Roster management has to be a headache. As for these 3, they all saw their snaps significantly decrease this past year, so I can’t say it’s a surprise. Probably for the best. That leaves Lyons as the only OL holdover from the previous staff.

OL Kilbane, Georges, and Robarge officially listed in the portal.

The Athletic: Moorhead a Possible Target for NFL OC Position
catdaddyp replied to UA1996MAENG's topic in Akron Zips Football
I think the writer is ignorant in that he doesn’t know Moorhead’s current situation. I’ve lost count how many writers have attached Moorhead’s job to OC vacancies already. This just seems like another example. If things don’t work out here, Moorhead will probably look to take an OC job somewhere. I suspect he’ll eventually angle to take another P5 head coaching gig if he can turn this thing around. -

They’re purely speculation by the writers of the articles. Clicks are a big ordeal for online media these days. As @Captain Kangaroo stated, Moorhead isn’t going anywhere this year.
