Starting Nickel/Safety for Buffalo in 2022 (signed as a JUCO). Transferred to West Virginia and saw action in 2 games. Back in the portal as a grad transfer.

About time we had one of these situations go in our favor.

I imagine he’s fill Corey Thomas role of sliding between Nickel and Safety. Great size and length. Definitely had the production at the FCS level as a CB, which should translate to success here.

17 transfers out so far (not including a few walk-ons who did not see the field). End of season starters are WR Jasaiah Gathings, S Corey Thomas, OL Nate Williams, CB Tyson Durant. The rest are depth players with varying range of potential. The only incoming portal addition to date (not including JUCO) is OL Laurence Seymore who is already on campus. At the moment, 13 HS prospects and 1 JUCO are publicly committed. WMU has the most portal departures with 18, but Ohio has been hit the hardest in terms of quality. Today marks one week the portal has been open and already over 100 MAC players have entered. Full MAC list can be seen here.

FCS All-American Safety from NC Central.

Western Michigan Safety. Played in every game on Special Teams, 5 games on defense, and started 1 in 2023. Excellent tackler.

Played his way into a P5 gig and probably a little NIL $. Too bad we didn’t get more out of him besides just a year of strong play.

CB from Furman. Grad transfer.

TE Nik Ognenovic in the portal. That’s leaves only two scholarship TEs and only one with significant game action on offense.

I think Witherspoon may become a TE. Have to see how how that one plays out.

JUCO Preseason All-America 3rd Team. Runs well, long arms, makes difficult catches. Good chance he helps us next year.

Vanderbilt TE grad transfer with 2 years of eligibility.

He’s a guy that visited a while back and it seemed like we were in the drivers seat before he committed to Monmouth. Will have to see if anything picks up here.

LB that we were in on late last year before he chose Army. Did not finish out the season with Army.

Safety from Western Carolina.

DT from Memphis.

Spoke to one of the portal DBs who is deciding between us and two other schools. He’s planning to commit next week.

We officially offered. As have WMU, NIU, and Buffalo. He’ll be a nice pickup for someone.

JUCO DT. Preseason JUCO 2nd Team All-American.

JUCO TE. 2 years to play 2.

Iowa State TE with a bunch of offers. 1 year of eligibility.

CB from UNC Charlotte. 2 years of eligibility.

Safety from DII Fairmont State. Up to 2 years of eligibility left.

Honestly, both would at least be an upgrade over our current backups. We’ll see if we land or continue to pursue either player. We already have Miami (FL) transfer Laurance Seymore on the roster and he should be an immediate plug and play on the interior of the line. I’ve linked Miami’s game vs Duke in 2022 if anyone wants to watch. Seymore is #50 at right guard.
