(Taking a social media break for lent but had to make one post today) I just bawled my eyes out singing we are the champs. I've watched every eff'n game. All the struggles and down games and I believed and prayed. My biggest regret was not going to the game in 2022. WE ARE CHAMPS AGAIN. WINNING IS EVEN BETTER THE SECOND TIME

It 100% is. The g league ignite caused a lot of prospects to skip college completely. The gap between the top 25 and the rest of the field is way smaller than the past. It’ll create a lot of upsets but overall the talent pool has shrunk

Hello everybody! Since were in a "bye week" in basketball I decided to get everyone excited about the baseball season. Your Akron Zips finished 21-34 last season despite the coaching disaster to start the year. Now am I expecting us to win the MAC? Hell no. However I think .500 should be a goal for this season to continue to improve off of the best season the baseball program has had since they returned. A new era begins with Bryan Faulds taken over as head coach so I am curious how the zips will come out this year. They start out the year with Illinois in a neutral site and will return home on March 8th for a game against Toledo. The softball team is coming off of a 28-23 season and received a first place vote in the MAC preseason poll and were listed at 4th I believe. They start out on February 16th and will be back home on March 15th. Wanted to include them in case they make some noise in the MAC. I am not an expert though. Happy for baseball to be back this week and I am very excited to see Akron and other College Baseball games (gotta find out who the guardians will draft at number 1 this year) this spring!

In one of the wildest shooting halves I’ve ever seen Toledo is beating App State 47-46. Both teams are shooting ridiculous. App state at just under 80%

Toledo and app state went 7 minutes with no commercial break. Best kind of basketball

I think the key to the game is slowing down JMU at the perimeter. They can shoot and will shoot a ton. Akrons offense can’t start slow or fall asleep today. Need to win this game like 78-76. I really can’t see this team keeping up if JMU drops 80+

Big day for the zips! This is the last chance for Akron to take a big jump in NET rankings. Obviously the chance for an at large is slim to none we’d have to blow everyone out by 20 and the P6 teams would have to cannablize themselves. However, you may not want to think about this but a win today could really help the Zips make the NIT if they lose in Cleveland. Cheer for the Zips and the rest of the MAC today to make a statement. Last chance for a big statement to the national world. I love that we get to play in this. The MAC-SBC is a very cool thing that we need to take advantage of. LETS GO ZIPS

How are you guys feeling about the MACs chances tomorrow? We’re currently up 2 in the challenge at 7-5. The SBC has become very top heavy since the last time we saw them, I think it’ll be a bit closer than some think. We just need to go 6-6 to win the challenge. Does it matter? No but I like to have fun with my rooting interests for a day. Root for every MAC team!

I’m not sure. I think it’d be pretty high stakes if the winner of the MAC-SBC got a higher seed. But unfortunately I doubt the voters would really care unless the mac just dominated tomorrow.

Friday games > Saturday Games theres only 3 games tonight it’s the best way to get national viewing. At least we’re on ESPN 2 tomorrow still

Why he’d stay: He seems to love Akron and the zips His kids go to Ohio schools with his oldest playing for revere Hes under contract til 2030 at about 600K a year He’s got a great recruiting class coming in Great alumni who support him at Akron and stay connected with the team Seems to have a decent relationship with the AD. Considering the extension Seems like he prefers the mid major level and the smaller scale compared to when he was a coach in the Big 10 Why he’d leave: Bigger money from a P5 or higher mid major Little to no chance of a new arena. A renovated arena at best Will be coming off his best team ever full of seniors with high character and potentially an nba draft pick Proven ability to keep players from leaving through the portal as well as getting people from the portal to come to Akron I’m in the middle with Groce. I’m still leaning to him staying and maybe that’s just the bias but overall my mindset is enjoy one game at a time. Cause this season is amazing and I want to enjoy every second of it

I do wanna say I really liked how the MAC did our scheduling. In conference play we faced every team 1 time and then face the SBC team. Then we basically get a bye week before the last 7 games of MACtion. Seems like a really nice system if they continue this challenge
