Friday has all the makings of an airtight game. Zips have to play smarter. Some of the shots late in the game last night were real brain cramps.

They can’t clinch the outright championship, but a win = the top seed in Cleveland. Friday will tell us a lot. Kent Stink is really on fire

If my math is correct, a win vs Ball St and a Miami win would make Friday’s game the one to clinch the regular season championship. Fully expected this team to hit a valley and that’s what has happened the last few weeks. Maybe a sleepy Tuesday night in Muncie is when they find their mojo. Time to turn the mojo around.

Made the drive yesterday. Great atmosphere. Lots of Zips fans in the building. Pretty much a full house for our game. Downtown Pittsburgh is such a wonky place. Lots of narrow streets and damn those bridges But anyway, Akron played as well as it could for 18 minutes. The next six game minutes did not go well. Then they got impatient and started shooting 3s and we know they ain't too good shooting from long range. Creighton shot 59% from 3. Ouch. But honestly, the Zips never stopped giving great effort. I know the correct narrative is this team never found the gear we thought they had. We would get a little tease here and there. But as the sadness of the end wears off, that Kent championship game will be the enduring memory. We all want this program to pull off an "Oakland" at some point, but for now, season is over. Future is in the portal somewhere. But this was a great group of seniors and at least we have a regular season title and two tourney titles since 2020 (no tourney in 2020) to be proud of. I'm confident that Coach will find some help in the offseason. Well done Zips! Looking forward to another banner going up.

really truly one of the best and most thrilling and stressful games I’ve ever watched. It reminded me of the old days when Woody and Bo said winning The Game was more important than anything. That was for a trip to the dance last night but moreso, it was an Akron/Kent State fist fight for 40 minutes. The effort by both teams was off the charts.

I’ve watched a gazillion sporting events and a lot in person. Tonight will be one of a handful burned in my memory forever. An absolute fist fight for the trip to the dance. Couldn’t be happier. Thad Matta always said you don’t have to be the best team in the country, just better than the team you’re playing. Well, 62-61. And on to March Madness. Congrats to Coach Groce and this wonderful group of young men. You did it!!!
