ZippyDoo

that game was freaking awesome ... so exciting to watch good football wasn't invested either way just wanted to watch a good exciting game and got it. some great plays. the fourth down play that mendoza scored on was awesome and that charlie becker is one heck of a wr... whatever teams get fletcher and toni are gonna studs in the future too..: great championship game

keshawn hayden is the one that backed out of the zips and chose eastern kentucky... i was looking at this cam williams. his agent says that he has 10 FBS offers and he will be announcing soon. He lists 6'5 the school site has him at 6'3 both have him at 250... decent stats at atlanta clark. offers i saw were Troy, akron, memphis, eastern carolina, middle tennessee state, coastal carolina, western kentucky, jax state i dontknow if all those r fbs but those r the offers i saw on his site... so we shall see. he looks like a tackle. looks very thick.

So Texas Tech got Miami of Ohio edge rusher, Kent State edge rusher and Akron's own Julien Laventure.... seems crazy

jake newell to toledo

jake newell to toledo

that's crazy... he was introduced to zips d line last night....

chase brown is gone apparently

no offense by any means, but that would be a long shot by Texas considering Boz didn't do a whole lot at a group five school. I wish him well not gonna bash him at all but you have to admit it is a very surprising move today the very least...

New edge rusher commit from central michigan Keshawn Hayden 6'3 250 according to PFF ranked 539 which was higher than Durham on 261 snaps though to be fair Durham had 699. He was third in Centrals rotation.

Markus Boswell committed to University of Texas. Dad graduated from there is an olympic high jumper. wish him luck. Didn't see that one coming ...

elijah alexander is committed and on campus

he had a lot of offers coming out of college. the players really liked him and from what i heard he was a hard worker. I think schools were scared because of his height but i was impressed and i thought he did very well and stepped up to the challenge for the most part.

McManus entered the portal today. I was hoping to have one more year but wish him lots of luck. I think he has a very bright future ahead of him.

Boswell hitting the portal...

Durham DID NOT enter the portal. He announced that he was entering, but he never officially signed or withdrew. You can come up with your own reasoning, but he is still on the team and NOT in the portal.

Dewalt posted about going into the draft. At the Bowling Green game he said it was his last college game ever also.

JUCO played at the WORLD FAMOUS Laney college featured on Netflix Last Chance U....

That is my understanding also no more entries after the 16th unless your team is a playoff team still playing then there is limited time once your teams season has ended. Once the player is in the portal prior to the 16th they can commit at any time, I just didn't know how the enrollment process worked. Does a player have to withdraw from a school to enter the portal? Dall is a red shirt sophomore in the portal now. Is no longer an Akron student? So if he doesn't commit before say Virginia starts their spring semester where does he go? This is all new to me and confusing. Durham committed last year during that open portal and was a student by the spring semester like many others but things were different then.

72 Roo I do have to agree with you that being known for winning would be great, but if spun correctly and added with look at where this player ended up at after being with the zips after one or two seasons maybe we could get in some higher quality talent for a season or two and it could benefit both parties. We win more games and the players go on to make money at a bigger program... I am impressed with a team in the MAC going 5-7 we have a player at Texas Tech, a player offered by Oklahoma but decided on Iowa State, a player still deciding on possibly SEC schools, and another at Pitt, not to mention where Dall and Durham end up... That can still be spun for recruiting...

i'm really curious and maybe someone can provide some insight... the portal closes the 16th, Akron semester starts Monday the 12th, so what happens if a sophomore or junior isn't committed by Monday or let's the 19th? Does that mean they aren't committing/enrolling until after the spring semester? They can't commit and not be enrolled right? which would mean they can't enroll after a certain point into the second semester correct? which would mean they have i'm guessing until the 18th at best a week after classes start or wait until after the spring semester?

adam trick, the stud edge rusher from miami, oh signed with texas tech also...

witherspoon is gone too leaves connor as only tight end on roster. i'm sure some will come in. Kavals was spending time there last four games of the season and is 6'6. Played qb in high school and basketball very athletic maybe they are switching him?

Ham you see what is happening at the "bigger" D1 schools? Iowa State was left with 16 players on their roster ! That is insane... JMU went to the playoffs, lost their head coach, and then lost their entire starting offense to the portal and graduation. Cincinnati qb just got 5 million to go be Texas Tech qb for one year. That is more than Shadeur Sanders rookie contract, I am no Shadeur Sanders fan mind you, but that is crazy... College football until controlled is going to be like MLB free agency without a salary cap. The players will get while they can get and get what they can get. If a kid doesn't think they are going to make it to the NFL better get paid now... When Finn left for Toledo, Weiner (Toledo QB Coach) told me personally that he was receiving 400k to go Baylor and that he had to do what was best for his family. He played 3 games threw 23 passes and rushed the ball 21 times. He made $133,33.33 a game! I'd say that was a pretty good investment if he doesn't make it to the NFL. The money being thrown at these players is mindboggling. It won't last forever... Something will have to give either some type of cap, some type of super conference, or something else but even the smaller P-4 schools can't compete. Backup offensive linemen at Pitt get 100k and they are the backups... A lot of these athletes are making the decision of do I want the money or do I want to play football knowing they may never get on the field and be just a back up?

Good point LZip. I never claimed to be the brightest. I assumed he decommitted before the offer from Akron came but you could be right. He had decent numbers. I'm willing to give anyone a chance.

interesting a month ago he was committed to new hampshire ... i wonder what persuaded him to choose the zips?
