  4. He may not have played much here (unless we couldn't get any shorter DB's) but I figure he would have been a shoo-in for the MAC all-name team

  7. Yeah, I'm not much of a movie watcher so I finally just got around to borrowing it from the library and watching it. Then of course I had to search for the zombie thread on here Boy, their program was a mess even before the crash...now I don't feel so bad about us.
  8. It's pronounced Wuss-ter (pardon the phonetics - not that they're wusses), they got it wrong in the film. It would be understandable for the Marshall pres. and other outsiders to rhyme it with rooster but Lengyel himself being a coach there wouldn't have mispronounced it. The Akron mention was in reference to a train that was seen going thru Huntington, having gotten "back on track" (as Marshall would) after a derailment "near Akron."
  9. I'm not seeing a link to the team store...am I missing it?
  10. Someone check my trivial memory! Wasn't Sweitzer the QB who also returned kicks? He was, I think, in the top 5 in the nation in kickoff returns (#!?). Though I don't think I ever saw him play, I met his girlfriend, who was a cheerleader with Coleman Crawford's BB team, which visited the isles in 1990. Ahhhh, the legendary headless Zippy trip! You're probably right about that and I know he had a gun for an arm throwing out runners from third base as a baseball Zip.
  11. Much improved look. Headed in the right direction.
  12. Awesome. Now we can build the other half of the Goodyear Polymer Center Twin Towers project ! I'll bet they have it all ready to go..
  13. There's an article in the June 6-12 BusinessWeek about the Pentagon's "war on rust." UA gets a mention at the end for being funded by the DoD with the first corrosion engineering bachelor's program nationally.
  14. Wow, I'm surprised those guys all came to Akron for a Zips game. Was that the one Howard called on ABC?
  15. It ain't bad but it's not worth the $5 a pint most places charge for it.
  16. http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/sports_blo...ball-coach.html As we know from the 'great' experts on ZN.o, "Old-Man Larranaga" won't go, since he 'won't be taken seriously' at Miami like he is at GMU (7-figure contract aside). The news media obviously got this story wrong and Miami is actually still looking for someone under the age of 35.

  18. Coach is slacking off on the weather reports. I had to infer from him being outside that it was warm enuf and dry enuf that practice wasn't forced indoors. He also continues to give away our strategy by blabbering about how we're working on both offense and defense
  19. If the option is no bowl or a bowl against 30 of us from this board, I'd take the second option. Me too...I'll play corner. I'm not that big but if I play 20 yards off the WR I think I can keep him in front of me. Beyond 20 yards I'm not sure if the QB could hit him anyways

  21. It's seeming a little more likely since KD's crew are and ncaa tourney participants again and his name is coming up for other HC jobs. Maybe some more donation $$ are coming in, as with soccer. It can't wait 15 more years for a new downtown arena to materialize...gotta make a move soon..
  22. If you didn't see it, Shaka referred to KD & Akron in his pregame interview on national TV. He said that when he coached at Akron, KD used to tell him that one of these years a mid-major was going to win the big dance.
  23. Let's not kid ourselves. Being "King of the JAR" is not a very high aspiration in the world of Div. 1 college hoops, hometown or not. He would have a lot more of everything to work with at Dayton. The risk is if it didn't work out at UD, he would probably end up at Ashland for the rest of his career. If he stays at Akron he has some security/longevity and some facility upgrades will be in the mix at some point before he's done. I think it would be a very tough decision for him if they want him.
  24. Put me down for the under. Alright, I'll take the over, lord help me..
