Porter's not so great. He only lost seven starters and his team only makes the sweet sixteen this year? And he only recruited four players that every other team wanted this year? Phhfft.

Could we have another scenario like last year - a final where the "jilted" school (Akron/UNC) gets to face their old coach (Lolla/Bolowich). Its a lot more fresh for UNC and they are not the upstarts, Creighton is, but I'd love to see that as a final. Ben Speas gets a title for two different schools, two years in a row?

I'm prettty sure this is a repeat of a quarterfinal last year that Louisville won in a barnburner 5-4. Kind of rooting for UCLA this year.

I missed that conversation a few weeks ago. Smithville 2001 grad here. I always had one question about the Wayne County schools nicknames. Why the duplication? Chippewa Chipps? Smithville Smithies? Good thing Wooster decided to buck the trend.

The field at Creighton was declared unplayble due to snow today. Shouldn't the game have then been moved to South Florida?

And except for Bush and Gavin, I believe we that we could have had that entire team together last year (with Mattocks as a reserve). Not that last year turned out badly or anything.

If this guy is a National Writer, then RACER is an International Writer. Well the national writer would fit right in on this board. Actually, Myerberg is a fairly respected sports writer for the NY Times. Yes, he had a couple facts wrong but mostly I think he was on the money. Akron doesn't know what its doing I think was solely applied to football. Hopefully this next hire changes that perception.

Those taking the bus don't get their tickets until Monday. I didn't bother to ask when I ordered, but maybe someone else did. Thanks John, I can probably wait until Monday and see where everyone is, I could even buy them at the game. I just can't believe that neither Akron nor WVU can tell me.

Some good news of sorts - all of the tickets allocated to the Zips ticket office have been taken. I am still planning on going but would like to sit with the Zips fans. Anyone have a ticket to tell me what section we are in? Neither the Akron nor WVU ticket offices could tell me.

I remember one thing about Humpty - the Toledo game. Sending it to OT with a three from the corner and the lob to Brett McKnight to win it in OT. Without that, no NCAA tournament that year and an embarrassing first round exit to a #12 seed. I have nothing but good memories of him because of that.

That's how we find our cornerbacks. Man, you missed that opportunity.

Article from College Soccer News. She mentions six teams that have a shot at winning it all. The Zips are the only unseeded team mentioned, and SMU not at all. If there was ever a year where the Zips could win without an absolutely stellar team this could be the year. There are no juggernauts this year.

This is Lady Zips...Can't State is terrible this year...Going to be between BGSU, Miami(OH), and us for MAC East title... Good, maybe we can get some Wagon Wheel points back for it.

I never got to meet Phil but he was definitely one of the most recognizable Zips fans whether it was on TV or you were there in person. Seemed to be a man who truly loved the game. My condolences to the McKnight family as well. The Zips family has lost a great friend.

I'll be coming from the other direction, but I'll see you all there. Morgantown is the same distance from me as Akron is from Morgantown. Wish I had a bus. :-) Also planning on the Detroit game since I will be home visiting for Thanksgiving.

On that same RPI list Can't is ranked 342 of 344. They haven't played a game yet so I have no idea why they are ranked that low, but I think we need to capture the list and post it in the JAR.
