  1. It could be a Zoo of MAC mascots. We could have a kangaroo, bull, bobcat (Or a large housecat), an eagle/hawk (paint one half orange&brown, the other Blue & maze, the ass red, and the turds green), and a sled dog. The remainder of the animals can be found living free in the general vicinity campus. The zoo keeper can dress as a Chippewa. It would be like the ESPN commercials. Not bad but the turds should be painted blue and yellow instead of green.
  2. Unless this was supposed to be tongue-in-cheek, the "New Area for Development" you have listed is partly on top of Infocision Stadium. An arena suspended above the Stadium would be pretty cool though, and that would definitely qualify as on campus.
  3. We can't win a home CBI game against Wisconsin Green Bay. We have a long way to go. Yes, but W-GB was only six RPI slots worse than us. If you take our RPI and divide by the conference standard deviation and multiply by the cross-coefficient constant of statistical relevancy we actually did beat them. Sorry Dave. I'd be quite happy to be in a middling conference and playing for the National Championship. It obviously can be done. I wonder what that ratio of people rooting for Butler vs. Duke is? 5-1/10-1/100-1? Go Jimmy Chitwood!
  4. Not suggesting we need one, but more dangerous than a live Longhorn Steer (Texas), Buffalo (Colorado) or Tiger (LSU)? If there was a real call for it, it could be done.
  5. Is his number 4? Or maybe he just enjoys being a four seed.
  6. That link came up dry (has the word f.l.a.s.h in it) but for anyone who never saw it, its worth a read. Here is an easier link: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/art...x.htm?eref=sihp Best part of the article was the sub head-line: He's a pitcher, part yogi and part recluse. Impressively liberated from our opulent life-style, Sidd's deciding about yoga— Look at the first letter of each word.
  7. I hope his family is/will be well cared for, but on a selfish note, I do hope he returns for another season. It's good for the MAC. If you're going to be selfish, root for him not to come back. It might be good for the MAC, but it's terrible for the Zips.
  8. The last time the East did not have four of the top five seeds was in 2005 (and even then the East had three of the top five). I just don't see the East dominance ending any time soon (just like I don't see the West dominance in football ending any time soon).
  9. At double the salary, heck yes.
  10. I wasn't really that serious, you can find the MAC if you go to the conference link and pick MAC, it's just odd that it isn't on that page.
  11. I was browsing on the SI Division I basketball conference and teams page and the MAC isn't even listed. There are a few other smaller conferences (Atlantic Sun, Big South, MAAC, Southland) that are also not listed. Wonder what the story is behind that one? http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/basketball/ncaa/men/teams/
  12. I agree it can be a little annoying but it is generally fairly easy to fix. Anything to potray our rival in a poorer light automatically, I say keep it. When I find something that works, I stick with it (like my hairstyle from 1987).
  13. I think more of my posts should have been deleted, especially the dumber ones (like this one ).
  14. Sadly though, the Zips ended at #27, which I believe breaks a 4 year string of being ranked in the final Mad-Major top 25 poll.
  15. Apparently the MAC has a tie-in with the Humanitarian Bowl, for this year but it may only be for this year. The loss of the International Bowl hurts the MAC more than any other conference.
  16. If you had a pack with your roommate, you may want to check, you may be gravy too.
  17. Might be a nice design but is that bridge on or off campus?
  18. And for those of you that love the players ratings systems, the Zips have three of the top forty players in the nation in this years recruits (#2, Perry Kitchen, #34 Ontiveros and #39 Brenes). http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/players-to-...op-100/men/2010
  19. This was posted by News Collector, but since you can't comment on those threads, here is the Article on Top Drawer Soccer about two high level recruits who look very happy to be coming to Akron. I loved the picture, looks like a draft where the pick proudly holds of the jersey of the team that picked them. Isn't it nice to see our recruits who genuinely look like they love coming to Akron?
  20. +1 Hold on, so that does mean that defense wins championships (or not)? My head hurts worse! Arrgghh!
  21. The GoZips report also listed Almondo Sewell as a DT. Hasn't he been mostly a DE?
  22. Interesting note at the end, as Randy Greenwood has apparently been switched to conerback. I am afraid this may disapppoint the Zipmesiter as Randy is listed at 5' 10".
  23. I think they play somewhere in Stow. I'll bet Rasor had something to do with it.
  24. Trying to help Dave's case ... From Luke Winn on the SI Site: http://www.kenpom.com/stats.php "In the six years kenpom.com has tracked tempo-free statistics, no Final Four team has been ranked outside the top 25 in adjusted defensive efficiency*. And only two Elite Eight teams in the past six years have ranked outside the top 50 in adjusted defensive efficiency. Having a decent offense matters, too, but the data shows just how unlikely it is for a non-elite defensive team to make a deep tournament run". However, in a later posting "It’s my nature to try to find some kind of numerical explanation for what happened in the Cornell-Temple game, so I settled on this: Highly efficient defensive teams with really bad offenses — like the Owls — have not been good of late in the dance" You just can't win (I guess unless you have a good offense coupled with a stout defense - hey, that makes sense )
  25. I'm still trying to figure out what possible expletive could have fit in there. Maybe he actually said "I am not here to sit with 24 wins".
