  1. We were so lucky to win this game. Bad Jack showed up, we survived 3 interceptions, lots of dropped passes, got a few timely penalties that helped, got the overturned TD call in the end zone, had Can't miss two short, critical field goals. I'll take the win any day, but continue that kind of play and we will not be a factor in the East. And for those who have been all over Igor's case lately, he stepped up (well except for that awful kickoff and the end of regulation, but he may have been instructed to do that).
  2. I heard a comedian on the radio the other day (I didn't catch his name) and he was talking about all of the various trophies that college football teams play for - he mentioned the Wagon Wheel and said that UA-Can't State play for that because that was the last time anyone cared who won the game. I was kind of insulted until almost every other game trohpy he mentioned was of BCS schools, then I was kind of proud. Go Zips - keep the Wheel!
  3. UNT lost 77-20 to Rice this weekend and are 0-4 this season and none of their four losses have be remotely close. All blows where K-State, Tulsa, LSU and Rice were able to play back-ups after building big leads. That's on the heels of 3-9 the past two seasons and 3-8 in 2005 season. Methinks UNT raising 40 million even in Texas will be a bigger task then the AD thinks.I've been to UNT's stadium and it is a pit, but its still better than the Rubber Bowl. C'mon Infocision.
  4. I just saw almost exactly the same play in the Illinois-Penn State game (QB under pressure flipped the ball at the feet of his RB and both were behind the LOS). There was no flag. But regardless, big picture, winning the MAC East is the only goal now and that is still possible.
  5. I was reading the macreportonline. I think they do a good job and I like how they are devoted to covering the MAC. The article I was reading was about payout games and whether it was good for the MAC. As I was reading I noticed there were several ads for college banners and pennants and all of them were touting Ohio State gear (see attached). I'm not one of the people who has a big issue with OSU and I know the macreportonline has to pay its bills, but I just found it really ironic that those ads were on that site, especially in that paticular article. No wonder the conference has to rely on payout games.
  6. The one year we don't play Miami ...
  7. Just who are you calling a nobody?
  8. Are you sure this isn't it?
  9. Ball State hammered Indiana at Indiana. The score was almost identical to ours (we actually got one more touchdown). Now I'm worried about Toldeo too, they took Fresno State to double OT and went for the two point conversion for the win but didn't make it. So we've beaten two of the worst D-1A teams in the country (by fairly convincing margins) and hung tough with two pretty good programs. No way to really read this team, but at least I think they've given some hope that there is a chance this year. But there is no way we are the worst team in the MAC East.
  10. You may have had too much beer - or perhaps your Buckeye hatred has completely overtaken you (sort of like Gollum in Lords of the Rings - Tressel, my precious )- you do know Akron won right?
  11. The six hour road trip is a little daunting even to join all of you at OBC (which is a great place to watch a game if you can't be there in person). West Point is even closer to me but couldn't work out the details to get there this weekend. I also was trying to get to Syracuse as well so I think I'm going to make plans for every away game for the rest of the season even if I can't go. I had no plans to get to Wisconsin, maybe I should have. Plus, we need to move the Buffalo game back to Buffalo. We're undefeated against D1-A teams in NY and Buffalo is the last one left.
  12. Please define this. What is spectacular fashion? In D-1A football, a road win is good regardless of the score. I actually consider the win at Syracuse to be a blowout at 14 points. With that said, Army lost to UNH a couple of weeks ago. I feel good about our chances.I'm using the term "Spectacular fashion" in a relative way. For Akron, a win by more than two scores is spectacular. So, a 15-point win at minimum. If we struggle to beat a team that bad, even if we do win, it's a very bad sign.So it was 19. Are you happy?
  13. I'm not the least worried about the kicking game. Igor will be fine, yeah he missed an extra point, but he still hit 3 out of 4 field goals (as a matter of fact ESPN mentioned that the missed field goal was the first time this year that the Zips had failed to score when in the red zone. That's pretty encouraging). Remember our circus of a kicking game only a few years ago? Nice to get a win - only four to go to be bowl eligible.
  14. Just saw it too, at least they didn't spit when they said our name, but it was pretty close. In a way though, this is all great coverage for us, getting yourself out there especially if it causes hand wringing at other programs. Isn't all publicity good supposed to be good publicity?
  15. OK, that's truly amazing. Most people in Akron couldn't do that let alone eastern NY. Maybe he's knowledgeable about the Zips since we've played Army a few times now. Or maybe he has some other connection to the Zips program, but he probably would have mentioned that. Or maybe he's an NFL junkie, fantasy league player, NFL video game player etc. that knows all the stats on all the players but it would still be tough to reel off the players from one school like that. I'm impressed. Enjoy the trip.Well maybe, I think it's great that there was someone who recognized former Zips in the NFL, but Jason Taylor is pretty well known regardless (as an NFL fan I could tell you Tony Romo palyed at Eastern Illinois, same for most of the big name palyers who went to less well known schools) and Green played for Jets for a long time and Hixon and Blackburn both for the Giants so in Eastern NY maybe not quite so amazing. If he could have come up with Andy Alleman and James Black, I would have been really impressed. Someday we'll get there - I look at the strides the program has made since I was there and I do beleive anything is possible. Most of the teams in the MAC are exactly what they have been for the last 40 years, only Buffalo and Akron have made big leaps recently.
  16. Now there is some guts and loyalty.
  17. Sorry to quote myself, but by absolutely random chance I happened to sit near Cedrick Middleton at the Ball State game Saturday so I said hello to him (he seemed like a very nice guy) and thanked him for the great season they had last year and then asked if he had anything to do with Zippy ending up in that ad. He said he didn't have any knowledge of it and had only even just heard about the ad. One theory down the drain.
  18. Ours is better.
  19. The mysterious Mr. Hagen returns. Greetings! Are you as fired up about Zips football as you were about Zips basketball? I hope your client comissioned this shot and many more to come.
  20. I also wonder if Cedrick Middleton's internship at ESPN might have had a little influence too? Can't someone get this nailed down on how Zippy ended up in a Vikings spot with absolutely no reason for her to be there? Of course that is also the beauty of those classic ESPN ads.
  21. Well to let you know that some of us pay attention AND appreciate the effort put into this, I noticed you did update the team passing yardage, but it seems the passer rating stayed the same. I don't understand the formula very well, but Buffalo in the number 2 spot has a worse completion percentage, fewer yards and exactly the same TD/INT numbers, but is 23 points higher. Am I missing something or did the number just not get updated? Also seems funny because Jacquemain's stats encompass all but one incompletion and his individual rating is much higher.
  22. You gotta think that last years Capital One Bowl competition might have had something to do with it. Pretty cool to be getting just a little bit more National notice.
  23. That was stinkin' funny, I only wondered why he gave credit to the Syracuse running backs for playing well instead of noting that they were only playing against the AKRON ZIPS (if that is indeed who Syracuse played on Saturday - I couldn't really tell from the report . I'm rooting for Syracuse in every game they have left. By the way, the answer to the Captain's rhetorical question - 11 (in a 3 minute presentation).
  24. Unfortuantely, Indiana got hammered today at home by Dartmouth, 4-0. I like for teams that we beat to continue to do well, it should help down the road. Oh well, for the moment it doesn't matter, the soccer team can only control their own games but I'm very impressed so far.
  25. The most disappointing MAC score of the day was BG getting thumped by Minnesota. Thought the best chance for the MAC to pick up some scalps were us, them and Temple, Glad we're the one that did.
