My impressions, please add comments: 1. Very very athletic team. More so than any KD team I can recall. 2. Reece is a beast. 3. Williams is the real deal. Probably not a prolific scorer, but an all around star player. Great defense, assists, basketball sense. And amazing defense. He needs to be the team leader and make the team his. Lead by doing. 4. Reece is a beast. 5. Tribble will be a star. He has some moves. And a ton of confidence. Could be our best PG since - Dru Joyce? Help me out here. Good size, great moves, plays very smart for a freshman. 6. Reece is a beast. 7. Cheese is the real deal. Plays his A$$ off and is all over the Court. Wish we had him for a few more years. 8. Reece is a beast. 9. Most improved player - Riak! Very pleased with the way he is playing. I did not think he would ever be a factor, I was wrong. 10. Reece is a beast. 11. Banks had a great night. I hope this is the new normal. 12. Reece is a beast. 13. LCJ has great hands. He is a disruptor on defense. I wish he would not chuck up threes quite so much, it is still a team sport. Very happy to see we have his eventual replacement in Tribble. 14. Ali took a shot! Awesome. He has the size, hope to see him playing more aggressive. I think we can be very very good in the Mac this year. We seem to have all the pieces. This is not only the most athletic team I have seen, it is also pretty tall (although we don't have a 7 footer and we have to see how THAT plays when we come up against one). Did I mention: REECE IS A BEAST. I don't expect a ton of scoring unless we post him up a lot, but FINALLY we have a rebounder and a big body defender! He sort of reminds me more of Nik than of Tree, but way more athletic. I wonder how the major majors let him get away. He could for sure play anyplace. Fire away.

Yes from the days of Jack Bedeilmann and Danny Ruff. And Len Paul. I can't tell how big he is on TV, only how active he is.

Is YSU even a D1 team?

Tribble could be the next Cooper. How did Reece play two years at JUCO??????? Someone was asleep at the switch a few years ago.

Game 4- South Carolina Upstate

For now but I think Banks is the weak link and the first to go. -
How come we have not seen Tre Edwards play?
-
Davis. Laco. Arslanian. They are all very good and have a real shot IMHO.

Best game of the season. We just lost, no blowout. Progress! Seriously, we look to have three defenders who could be headed to the NFL. The others just have to do better. At one point it appeared that Davis was yelling at a defender for a missed tackle.

The thing is, if he redshirts he could solicit a scholarship from someone and play next year. We should burn that redshirt right away so just in case he is good we can keep him. -

I want to see him play too. I know this board has already declared him to be no more than an end of the bench extra. But he is long and athletic and had a nice stroke on that free throw. Remember, Everson Walls was a walk on. Sometimes there is a diamond in the rough. -

Sayles has no hands. Slaps at rebounds instead of grabbing them. Does not power up his inside shots. He reminds me of how I used to cringe every time freshman Deji got onto the court. But Deji developed. Sayles is running out of time. Meanwhile X is like an NBA player against the OOC competition lately. -

LCJ is out of control. Needs to calm down and set up plays. At the end, when we needed to run the clock, he ran right down and chucked. Freshman mistakes, not a freshman. -
Assessing Coach Arth (and his staff)

I am not going to comment because will be accused of being negative. -

If this kid Freeman is any good (High School: Led St. Martin De Porres High School ... earned First-Team All-Lake Effect Conference as a senior and runner-up conference Player of the Year ... averaged a double-double as a senior with 12 points and 10 rebounds per game ... dished out 4.6 assists per game) We should immediately give him this scholly and burn his redshirt. Else he may be in the wind. Apparently we suddenly have some extra money, may as well spend it. Can always take it back if he does not work out. -
If Freeman is any good they should give him the newly open scholly and burn that redshirt. Else he may be in the wind.

Not a shock with all the guys entering the transfer portal. Not a good advertisement to come here. -
It was a flop. He barely touched him.

They are kids and will need some time to adjust. Ali looked a little bewildered at times and I didn't like the way he ran up and down the Court, did not seem to be going full speed. But he is tall and athletic and will develop. Tribble played with good confidence. However, he WILL learn that the schoolyard stuff he is used to won't end well against a D1 high major team. He needs to pick his spots and show more BB intelligence. It just takes time.
-
The moral victory is that we were not blown out and made them work right up to the end for the victory. We did choke a bit but we did not quit. LCJ needs to wear a string on his finger to remind him he is a little guy and really should not dribble into the forest. Not that he is a bad player, he is very good. But at times needs to make better decisions - trying to drive into a crowd of really good athletes, chucking up a three instead of setting up a play.
-
Keys to success: X and Reece the Beast stay healthy. Ali and Tribble mature. Sayles stays on the bench. FIRE AWAY. They did well against a superior team. That 5th place prediction may have been a bit premature.
-
I thought size doesn't matter!
-
Hanging in with a team with guys who have never played together, against a superior team with bigger better faster guys. This level of play should be competitive in the MAC.

As usual you blow more hot air than Adam Sciff Arth walked into a program that had recently been to bowl games and MAC championship games. Bowden did not take players and recruits with him. Bowden won 4 games his last season. Groce's team last year just could not close. They were in most games, and did not finish. And as stated he only started his first year with 5 returning players. Of course, you know that Groce was a successful coach in the MAC and was a Big 10 coach. Yet you compare him to Arth who has no business being in D1. Get off that soapbox.

I think he inherited a nightmare. Not being an insider, I don't know the details of KD's departure, just that he took some players with him along with some recruits. I made the point at the time that those kids were recruited with the University's money, not KD's. That being said, I give him a total pass for year one. He walking into a mess. Year two he had some holdovers and some new guys, and people transferring out. This year is his make or break year. I am not saying he has to get to the dance, but he MUST have a winning record and be competitive in the MAC. This year's freshmen were sophomores in high school when he took over. He has had the time to recruit and train a team. He needs to get it done now.

Duquesne got a game-high 22 points from point guard Tavian Dunn-Martin, 15 of those coming from 3-point distance
