Newest HUGE Verbal - Anthony Schrock
Buckzip replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Football Recruiting
Let's hope the coaching situation doesn't scare him and others away from Akron.Sounded to me like he was coming for the facilities and school anyway. (oh wait, facilities don't matter on where a player goes)I agree, but still he will want to know who his coach is.. -
I am right there with you. We are so used to losing that we are happy with a 7-5 record..That about says it all.

...or give two weeks worth of first team snaps to Patrick and right this ship. I want to win now! agreed

The Head Coach is responsible for the team...........................
-
No coach is going to accept a job during the season. The only thing would be if it was internal. Then it would only be the infamous interim title. That will not help the program in the long run.
-
No, we are part of why the MAC sucks.
-
Yes, he is a future star. Right now he is a true Freshman. I would rather not subject him to this miserable offense. Let him learn and grow a year then see what he can do.

Nice photos...Thanks for sharing.

Because the Can't State alumnus are still peddling at Jacobs Field for another couple weeks...

Is Martin every healthy? Why isn't Devoe playing? Why is Shuford over Allen?Inquiring minds want to know?

Jacquemain Update & a Coach Is Suspended w/Pay
Buckzip replied to psc2009's topic in Akron Zips Football
i think some are missing the point. The 1-3 record is only part of the problem. To some it seems the program is out of control. -

a well taken,if unfortunate point...Actually if Walt Harris was named coach, that may keep things moving. -
It looks like you just wrote his resume for him. All of those things that you said to him, he probably already knows. I am sure he knows his own history..Good post though.

Jacquemain Update & a Coach Is Suspended w/Pay
Buckzip replied to psc2009's topic in Akron Zips Football
We will see what the results of the investigation reveal.Like many members of the football staff, Coach Ferri has been a tremendous supporter of ZipsNation. I first contacted him in 2004, asking for information regarding the Zips program that I wasn't getting from the Beacon. He agreed on one condition - "That nothing ever be asked negatively about the Zips program." I kept to that.I've spoken to him many times over the past several years. If you have enjoyed any of my recruiting or program updates, you might as well thank him. As many of you know, the guy went out of his way to give a commentary and review of the 2009 recruiting class to many of us at the OBC last spring. I don't need to tell you how rare it is for a coach to embrace the fans from a message board. But he did. He's a West Point graduate. Father of two toddlers, and as solid a man as I have ever met. He deserves the benefit of the doubt at this time.CK, Agree about Ferri. Your quote from him is a little confusing. I think you left out a word or 2. You may want to be careful discussing what he discussed with you on recruiting. The NCAA is everywhere.Hopefully all of this becomes a misunderstanding and everything just blows over. However it seems only USC ever gets cleared of everything... -
I think the new AD has a agenda. If he did in fact commit violations, it is probably the way it should be handled. The NCAA looks more favorlably on schools that are taking pre-emptive action.
-
Hopefully Rogers stays healthy and Nicely can keep the redshirt.
-
So does Wackerly stay the backup or does Nicely move up a spot?At least we all get to see what Rogers has.

I've said it already and I'll say it again. IU is 3-0 with games against Purdue, Northwestern, Virginia and Iowa remaining. They could win six games and go to a bowl.I don't think the talent level on IU is all that bad. Like us, they have a huge QB problem. Chappell is terrible. Put a decent qb on that team and they win six easy.GP1, Do you feel like a loner here being the lone defender of Brookhart? Just curious. When you go line by line and say nothing is the coaches fault, it tells a lot...Maybe your reading comprehension skills aren't at a fifth grade level, but I think my original post did direct some criticism at JD.A 5th grade level would still behigher that yours...Gotta love the putdowns when you know you are losing an argument...

Well said...

We may not intimidate a Big Ten School with our stadium, but I think it certainly gives our players an advantage being in their own home with zips fans surrounding them. I'm not sure how much of a difference all of that actually makes but it has to have some effect. IDK.Not according to GP1...Why even build the new stadium? It doesn't make a difference according to him...
-
How was the new stadium going to beat them? Make a tackle? Don't throw an interception? Our players were going to be bigger, stronger and faster because of the new stadium?I'm more concerned about being the best team in a bad conference. I actually think UofA needs to stop scheduling more than one BCS team per year. It isn't helping.I think everyone needs to brace themselves for a loss at Syracuse later in the year. The new stadium helps with momentum. I don't beleive Indiana is bigger stronger and faster. I think, as usual, Akron wasn't prepared. Do ou think N. Illinois is bigger faster and stonger than Purdue is? I don't. Other MAC teams seemto find a way. Akron never does. How does it help with momentum?Take out the program and compare the size of players. You will see a difference. It was obvious on TV today. The difference isn't overwhelming, but there is a difference.I think you are right. UofA wasn't prepared. They weren't prepared for their starting QB getting the boot the night before the game.So UofA is just as big, fast and strong as IU, but NIU isn't as big, fast and strong as PU. I'm confused...which is it?How does the stadium help with momentum??? Did you really just ask that question??You got my point exactly. You are confused that is my point....Akron should have won today. But as usual, we lost...I did ask the question and I'm still waiting the answer. I'd love to hear you back up some of the comments you make on this board periodically.I saw on TV today that IU has improved their facilities as well. Maybe you are saying IU's stadium beat UofA's stadium today? For those of you who think IU is the bottom of the Big Ten, I would reserve judgement until the end of the year. They are 3-0 now with winable games against Northwestern and Purdue. Squeeze in one other win this year and they go bowling. What question didn't I answer? Oh it must have been the stadium question. If you don't understand what the home field advantage in a new stadium is, nothing I say can explain it to you. What other points do I make on here that you want backed up?Bring it?I think you can't explain it because the main point that somehow a new stadium makes players better and coaches better doesn't make sense. You should say what you mean instead of people inferring you aren't very smart because you say things without backing them up with words. I'll give you another chance to explain yourself. Try using words and logic this time. Maybe you are a smart guy who just doesn't articulate himself very well with basic English. I really don't know. Try again....Indiana plays in stadiums that dwarf The Big Phone Booth. Maybe we could intimidate other MAC schools with crowd noise, but 30,000 fans are not going to intimidate a Big Ten school. They see huge crowds every week and are not impacted by noise.Going back to the original post, why is it so important for UofA to beat a Big Ten team? The Big Ten is a second tier BCS college football league. We have already beaten second tier BCS teams in Syracuse (Big East) and NC State (ACC). I don't think beating a Big Ten team does any more than beating those schools does.Yeah, that's it You are clueless. As for beating a B10 team, it's for respect. Again, if you don't understand that, I can't explain it to you. When Akron beat Syracuse, there was no reference on ESPiN. When A MAC school beats a B10 team they discuss it on ESPiN. Again, you don't see the difference. Getting the Akron name out is huge. You can attempt to put me down all you want, but the fact of the matter is that you really don't get it.Next.
