Zips Win!

The Zips Win! jinx will take the blame for this one! Yesterday made me 1-6 going to UB over the last 13 years. The roommate said no more, but the ride is so easy and Santora's Pizza and Pub is an awesome place for wings and beer. Yes, UB is a tough match-up. But they had the perfect storm going yesterday. They drained threes from all over the court in the first half and they were allowed to foul us at will, with little getting called. We never got into a rhythm. Sorry folks, it's hard to score when getting hammered. I for one, am a believer that we are an outside/in team. While the front line can be dominate, I think we struggle at our spacing inside until we start hitting a few threes. Immediately is all opens up and Zeke and Tree then go work. The off-ball clutching and grabbing of our bigs made it tough and then we didn't hit enough threes to make UB honest. The effort was awesome. I didn't really see a tired team, just one frustrated because we could never get into a flow...

Good Luck getting the Zips faithful travelling to those schools!!

LZip is just another buckeye honk posing as a Zips fan. I know better. My point wasn't to start another buckeye football bashing thread. Actually, I was giving my friends in c-bus a little credit for their hoops team. The basketball team is actually playing a schedule worthy of a bcs program. The football team hasn't in years... Even though they have several losses, the level of competition they play is outstanding so don't count them out. Their record makes the quality of the team deceiving and probably ranked lower than they should be. Football is always overranked because folks just look at the record and not the level of competition. Again, lets make the tounament and not worry about who we play. Yet.

Enough already! The Zips need to be concerned about getting into the tournament, not worried about playing tOSU. Threads like these are infuriating! Stop starting threads for buckeye honks to get on ZNO to post all of their meaningless stats. Every football season I rail on tOSU because they play schedules that are a joke. I am sure that the thought of tOSU playing Buffalo and Florida A&M next year are keeping ol’ Urb up at night. On the other hand, I do find it incredibly useless to sit here and make comparisons of the hoops’ teams. tOSU has seven losses with a couple more coming down the stretch. They will end with 9 or 10 losses and STILL make the tournament. We need to win the MAC tournament to get in. tOSU plays in the hardest conference in basketball night-in and night-out, so while they may lose, it’s virtually impossible to make any meaningful comparison based on the level of competition. And as CK questioned earlier, the last thing I want to see is our students in red and silver.

Last night was full of surprises with KD. In a move that may never happen again, I believe we went through a short stretch around the 12 min mark of the second half where there were 3 time outs--one when Reggie was tied up, one called by BG and the 12 minute TO and not once did KD make a substitution coming out of the TO's. Unheard of, to say the least!!

They are selling on ebay for about $40.

We'll take the win, but- All you complainers about the refs every game like DIG and company need to thank them tonight. We got every call in the second half especially the non-foul by Zeke on McCrea in the last 30 seconds. Without those call, who knows how it ends....

The Stroh Center BLOWS. It is the worst arena ever and it is brand new. 25% of the seats are behind the basket. Every other seat has terrible sight lines, bad angles.... If UA builds one like that, I am done.

I wouldn't mind getting a sweet Joe Jakubick bobblehead fitted in his Carolina gear!!

While I do agree that change is coming, I do think that the scheduling aspect of the BCS school division will be a huge problem. That is, unless they keep the current format of scheduling non-bcs schools. I find it hard to believe that the bcs schools will all agree to play each other exclusively, even if it is for a few more TV bucks. Most budgets are built on 8 home games and there is no way that can be sustained unless they play non-bcs schools or force the bottom half of the bcs division to play 4 home games so tosu can get 8. And if you give them time, pretty soon they will be demainding 9 or 10 home games.... Eventually they will piss each other off so change may still be a few years away...Will a 14 game schedule be an option?
