Dude is as boring in person as he is on the radio!! How did he get that gig? I heard him yesterday give the date and time of the game...Didn't hear any real takes on the game. But then again, he's been associated with UA for decades and I have never heard him make even one provocative take/comment. Complaining about the refs doesn't count... How about review the Akron pass offense versus the MU pass defense. Rush O vs. Rush D. Special teams? Coaching? Etc... Then again, why have a take when you can get paid for not having an opinion...and he is on the radio..

How come nobody told me that Clayton Moore resurfaced at UB. Why didn't he have to sit out a year? Dude was terrible.. The MAC RULES!

Even ESPN noticed our beatdown. At the very end of Sportscenter Saturday evening, our 66-6 was mentioned by one of the anchors...

1. This is a discussion about scheduling and conference reshuffling. 2. On the field, ND isn't relevant anymore. And if you can get free tickets to the home opener, just another example of how irrelevant they really are. Sorry, sad, but true. In fact, the ND soccer team "beat up" the Zips more than their football team could.... 3. Screw buckeye fan.

“Scheduling” could be considered the single most important issue in college football. You could go back and look at college football and who was crowned the champion over the last 50 years and scheduling is at the heart of the issue. Today, there is only a need to look at the last 6 years- when the SEC began dominating college football. If you assigned a weighted-average value to the BCS conferences the SEC would earn about 50% of the value and the other BCS conferences would get the other 50%. That’s how dominating the SEC is. When I see that the medium ten is the second best conference I get a good laugh…But then who else could you take…None of them measure up to the SEC. Now, if the medium ten renamed the divisions to Legends and MAC North, I might have a little more respect. While we are at it, The Vest was a master at playing easy schedules. No one did it better and it got him into 3 NC games. Pure genius! What would he have done if he had to play USC every year, not just two. As for ND, there are several conclusions… I see 3 medium ten and 3 ACC foes…Not sure what the big deal is if they play 5 ACC teams in the future. Yes, there are many easy games on the schedule, but there is also USC and Oklahoma on it as well. I would say there is much more than a little substance. On the other hand, there are no SEC teams so you can make the argument that the best teams are being avoided… Scheduling has won more NC than any other factor. I can’t wait for the four-team playoff in two years. That will force teams to play harder schedules if they want to get in. The days of using The Vest model for scheduling will be over

Did you get to see this? In person it sure seemed that Quinn and the ND player had arms locked together. Quinn was trying to break away and as he pulled his arm out, his arm and elbow raised about his head.. Bullshit officiating the entire tournament. We were just able to survive on Friday.

That is until PSU drops us for more 1-AA opponents.

He does seem to be very effective. However, MU's qb was very impressive in the first qtr/half. Too bad his receivers couldn't catch. And I hate it when MAC coaches settle for FG's early in "money" games... Take a chance and go for the td's..

Zips QB Clayton Moore will transfer
Zips Win! replied to GeorgeThomasABJ's topic in Akron Zips Football
He might. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't relinquish the starting role. Then next year, we need to find another 5th year transfer to come and play qb for the Zips. In fact, I would hire a GA to create a data base on all D1 and IAA QB's across the nation and find out who would be eligible to play for us next year. Then go and recruit him... -
What does a football playoff mean to the MAC?
Zips Win! replied to psc2009's topic in Akron Zips Football
It is a start. But as someone else posted, the fact that teams like IU, Minnesota, Northwestern, Purdue and Illinois are conference foes, maybe Michigan should also add another quality opponent to the schedule. Then, if UM is able to run the table it may be enough. At seasons end, if the schedule stacks up and they are one of the four best, let em in. The M10 and it's mediocrity the last 5 years or so is similiar to the ACC in the 90's. It was cupcake city for FSU and that is why they won every game. When Miami, Va TEch and BC joined the ACC, tell me how great FSU's record was then. It is all about scheduling..or not scheduling. -
What does a football playoff mean to the MAC?
Zips Win! replied to psc2009's topic in Akron Zips Football
Sure, one way to do it is create a national division. But there would be major disagreement on who even qualifies here. IU, Minn, Nortwestern etc would be out. Likewise, Vandy from the SEC wouldn't either. Heck, even someone like Colorado would be out. There would be maybe 40 teams who would really qualify in this scenario. Therefore, for the time being, I would leave D1 as is but just make SOS the main determinant in selecting the top 4 teams. So, if tosu wants to schedule easy and play MAC schools, etc they would be out. Conversely, if they put USC and another quality opponent on the schedule, beat them on the raod, they would garner alot of votes... Point is, even though there is a four team playoff. It really is a 12 game regular season play in and you need to beat the best to get in. As for LZip, I take no credit for the luckeyes moniker, Skip Bayless gets the credit. I do take credit for the Medium ten, though. In the world of major college football, there is nothing to the big 10 name. For decades it was the big 2....Now, it's the medium ten. Play somebody! -

Finally, I agree. Create a national division, play each other every week, play 6 home games and let the best team win. -

You are clueless. The M10 will have 5 teams in the top 25 after week 4 because they all beat up on the MAC. By seasons end they have one legit top 10 team, but it is really hard to tell how good they really are by playing IU, Minnesota and Purdue the last half of the year. The luckeyes went 1 and 3 vs. USC and Texas....they learned their lesson and put the Zips back on the schedule. Yes, the M10 is more balanced all right. They are more balanced with crappy teams. THe SEC would blow the M10 away...No contest... If the four best teams come from the same conference, let them in. The Arkansas game was meaningless....for everyone but the vest. -
What does a football playoff mean to the MAC?
Zips Win! replied to psc2009's topic in Akron Zips Football
Agree completely. The SEC's conference schedules will trump the weak medium-ten most years, even if the M10 plays quality non-conference games. And yes, the luckeyes have taken the path as you described. Therefore I like the new system with SOS as a main factor. THis should force many teams to schedule better and the regular season will be can't miss football. Zips Win! and Mark May will be much happier campers... -

That's why a tosu team played in the championship game with a SOS in the 50's. Play a real schedule and earn the spot. -
What does a football playoff mean to the MAC?
Zips Win! replied to psc2009's topic in Akron Zips Football
Again, disagree. The second best SEC team will be better than a big ten champion team 8 out of 10 years. Now, make every team play a real non-conference schedule and earn the right to the top 4, OK... Even if you are 3rd best in a confernce...(highly unlikely, I know) The Medium Ten beating up on the MAC will automatically disqualify them from the playoffs. What if......The Vest had to play real schedules. -

Zips Win! replied to psc2009's topic in Akron Zips Football
I completely disagree. If the selection committee takes approopriate steps to find the four best teams and strength of scheudule is a major determining factor, as it is supposed to be, then the regular season should be even more important. BSC title contending teams will have to change how they schedule non-conference games. The days of playing two MAC teams and and a 1-AA team should be over. In fact, even picking four non-conference games against easy BCS schools should be over. Teams will have schedule tougher against teams that there is at least a chance you might lose to. Now, in time, if SOS isn't really considered in picking the four best, then I do agree that interest in the regular season will fade... -
Enough with the Ken Carmen and Jeff Thomas are Akron grads nonsense. They are idiot buckeye honks. Both can go away and return their UA degrees.

The Tilted Kilt is now open next to the casion. I have just discovered the new home of the Zips for the MAC tournament in 13. At least, that is where I will be... What an awesome establishment!! Those bastards (owners) stole all of my ideas for how to run a bar.

Dambrot Mentioned in SI Article on LeBron
Zips Win! replied to UAZip0510's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
False. The Akron coach has a connection with a big-time celebrity. Now, when the recruits and dough roll into the University, then Akron basketball will have a connection with a big-time celebrity. -

+1 Best post ever by DIG. Short and sweet. Yet another example of DIG never taking a stance, yet always riding the fence...... You know, sometimes you win and sometimes you lose..yada, yada, yada.... LBJ is KD's buddy. Great for them... When LBJ's impact lands us a big-time player or a couple mil, please let me know... Until then, it's much about nothing...
