But what is wrong with distancing yourself from terrible and producing a winning, prestigious MAC-program at the FBS level, even if it's not big time by your definition. Screw OSU! I have been in agreement with your position all along that at some point, the BCS teams will form a separate division and find a way to keep all the money. I am very curious to see how scheduling will shake out with the new division and how they will decide to share revenue. Will the same format be available for the BCS-division schools to continue to schedule the non-BCS division schools? I hope not. Why move down a division and then continue to be the punching bags for the BCS schools? And to answer your question, yes I would still follow if we are forced to a separate division. I will not if we go the FCS route, however. UA Soccer and hoops would easily fill my void...

You keep using the phrase "most successful" when talking about Faust like he was a success. In no way shape or form was he a success as a head college football coach.

GP1 already answered this. The hammering continues because "Gerry Faust is an ongoing reminder of failure for everyone who sees him at University events." Again, dude was 43-53-3. Because the coaches that followed him sucked more than he did, this cannot validate him as any kind of successful coach. Sorry!

While I generally agree that the MAC isn't in the "major" college football class, one could also make the same argument for the bottom third of the medium ten, the big east and the ACC. All stepping stones to the biggest programs in one form or another. While were at it, are the Browns really NFL-caliber, Cavs really NBA- caliber? As for Toledo v. Akron. This is a very legitimate argument. Both similiar state schools, similiar budgets, student bodies etc. The difference being the leadership over the past 30 years. We've had about zero..they have had a bunch. We hang out hat on ND wannabees like Fausty or tosu honks like the Vest. How about hire a UA guy/gal that gives a damn about UA, not some other school. Lot 9 rules!

Baloney. When it goes to 8, the idea of strength of scheduling being crucial in picking the teams is out the window. Keep it at 4 and make every team play a competitive schedule. If your conference blows, find another one.

A few comments: Dude was the worst college football coach ever with more than 2 years at the helm. We all know who the worst is with two years or less. Faust is a prime example of a face we do not want associated with UA. Similiar to you know who.... He is ND through and through yet is allowed on campus. You wanna talk about bad luck, he trumps Zips Win! by a landslide... As for the article, Faust wants to start a fight with a fan, yet they were willing to toss the fan...typical. The last time I checked he coached nine years, not eight...And I guess Fausty the snowman couldn't get a free ticket, so he isn't going to the NC game. Enough already!!!

Agree. But it may take a few years. And if this happens, the super division teams better play ONLY other super division teams. This "lower" level scheduling has to stop.

UA instructed me to "Think Bigger" this year. So, if they were thinking bigger so was I. Therefore, I was expecting 13-1 non-conference and 15-1 in conference. Anything less isn't really thinking bigger...
