I am going to disagree with you on Marshall getting over 27,000 the last ten years. While having excellent attendance even in their down years, it's still simply not true. A quick scan of NCAA pdfs says otherwise. 2013 25,023 2012 24,896 2011 25,874 2010 27,046 2009 22,236 2008 24,766 2007 30,020 2006 26,031 2005 26,510 2004 25,933

I wish Brian all the best. The guy played his heart out every down. Too bad he was dealt the situation that was the last couple of years, I wouldn't wish that on anyone. Best of luck Brian, sorry you had to endure the crap storm that was Akron football as of late.

Here's how the NCAA counts paid admission "Tickets must be sold for at least one-third of the highest regular established ticket price as established prior to the season, regardless of whether they are used for admission in order to be used in calculating paid attendance figures. Tickets sold at less than one-third of the highest regular established price may be counted as paid attendance only if they are used for admission. Student attendance may be counted as paid attendance if the student pays at least one-third of the highest regular established ticket price or, if the student actually attends the game and any one of the following conditions applies: 1. The student paid an athletics fee; 2. The student paid an institutional fee of which a certain portion was allocated to the department of athletics; or 3. The student paid no athletics fee, but the institution allocated to the department of athletics a certain portion of tuition income or general operating funds as the equivalent of a student athletics fee" Source

Amen. It's starkly clear to anyone who pays attention, or who has paid attention over the last who-knows-how-many-years, to how Cleveland uses the ol' "Northeast Ohio" tag. Most anything popular and beneficial is tagged "Cleveland" or "Cleveland area." Screw that and screw them. How was the Zips v. WMU coverage on the Cleveland news last night? Exactly. Screw them. We in Akron have to fight for our own & LBJ's keeping Akron in the culture's consciousness. Frankly, LBJ's the only thing keeping Akron in the public consciousness. Akron would cease to exist if the Cleveland media had it's way. Keep representing 330, 'Bron! Edit: How's about "Cleveland +"? Edit #2: That website probably got a million hits... yesterday! Thanks, 'Bron! Since when does 'Bron represent the whole area of the 330? Last time I checked it wasn't just the Akron area. This would be news to Canton, Warren, Youngstown and everywhere else in between. -
The last time I was in the University bookstore (Barnes and Noble) they had them but that was months ago. You can also find them here http://www.footballfanatics.com/COLLEGE_Akron_Zips

There's an article in the Sept 2006 edition of Akron Life & Leisure about the Rubber Bowl and it says that capacity was reduced from 35,482 to 31,000 when turf and expanded all-purpose track were installed.

As far as lights go I see 4 light poles in the designs that show the east stands ( behind of course) and there appears to be a ribbon of lights that run the entire length of the press box at the very top (squint real hard).

It's kinda funny that the $30 million they are getting for the stadium is termed "donations", when they are mostly from sponsorhip deals made in exchange for naming rights (stadium name and other parts of the stadia) ,advertising in and around the stadium, pouring rights (Pepsi multi-year deal that I believe is still in place), and deals with vendors to sell food and whatnot. I'm guessing that the University will farm out the rights to sell food in the stadium as opposed to doing it themselves like the Rubber Bowl. As it will be a bigger undertaking at the new digs.Bonds will be paid down using money from seat/loge/suite sales, game day parking fees, stadium rentals (HS football, concerts and other events), and leasing out the retail space in the new builidings around the stadium.
