yeah... two thing i noticed... the first is on the frobnt where is has EST. '05. I lied last years EST. 2005 way better and what's with the word University being cut at the end of a line and split in two?! some details are being overlooked UAM! i do like the gold color though. I think of it this way, every school we play with the color blue has blue shirts so why not exploit the fact that we wear gold! at least it sets us apart.Kudos on getting the name on video games. I heard about this happening back in June when a former worker and friend of mine was at a college sports convention representing UA. They were putting in student section names and he approached and made sure AK-ROWDIES would be in there. He didn't even know it was in the game until i read it hear and told him. He was pretty excited although he hopes they didn't screw anything up with it. Can anyone give some more info on what it says and how it looks in the game?!

This season comes down to a final home game against Western Michigan.I just got back late last night from visitng a friend in Tallahassee and i got to see the FSU vs. WMU game first hand. The crowd was pretty bad considering FSU football standards as i exected it to be full but the stadium hold 84,000 or so and i would guess about 75,000 were actually there. The game entertainment is pretty awesome. good music, videos, contests and giveaways. Next week for Florida they are giving away 25,000 foam fingers! Anyway, WMU ran the swinging gate play 5 or 6 times during the game in which most were very successfull. they are going to try and spread the field against us. they are a solid team, maybe the most solid team in the MAC. They gave a very GREEN but fast FSU team fits all day. Overall WMU is fast, they do not make many mistakes and play to win the game, not to just compete. They will be a tough test for us this week. Regretfully, WMU over Akron 30-17.Also on a side note i stayed for the FSU vs. New Orelans Basketball game last night. The FSU team is big, fast, strong and can shoot the lights out. They remind me a lot of a bigger Zips team. they have good depth and will try to run opponents out of the gym and love to break to the hoop, draw in the defense, and kick out for the three. They also play a deal or no deal on-court game during halftime sponsored by a bank with a student to win anywhere between $50-$1,000 guaranteed! How cool is that?!It also wasn't much warmer there than it is back home so i was slightly disappointed by that.I thought it would be cool to post this on the board since i will get to see WMU play two weeks in a row. GO ZIPS, prove me wrong!

What were you expecting? JD to be pulling in millions? Sorry to burst your bubble, but there SHOULD be a huge gap b/t coaches in the 2 leagues. The MAC doesn't really compare to Big Ten football, in talent, size, fan base, nothing. How would expect a coach at a school with an average fan base of 10k at a game to compete with schools that pool 100k+ to the game every week, not to mention national fan bases, apparel, etc. If a MAC were to pay their coaches even 500K a year, where would you expect that money to come from? Attendance, licensing apparel nationally, all that stuff gives money to a school in the Big Ten. Sorry, I was just a little shocked that you were so shocked by that number. That number for JD is after his 3rd year of coaching, with a Championship and bowl berth one year, and contentions the other 2 years. Imagine what a coach from a school like Buffalo makes, with this year being an improvement with 2 wins! I know your right but I guess I didn't expect the gap to be THAT far away...I was expecting 220K-320K, if Tressel at OSU makes 1 Mill i was expecting a MAC school to make 75% less not 82% less tressel is obviously one of the top coaches in the nation, #1 in the big ten and possibly #1 n th country. le'ts try to compare the likes of Indiana, Northwestern and lower Big Ten teams to Akron rather than the #1 team in the nation.

EVERY school USE to do this. It is now an NCAA violation. you cannot put player names on video boards, no PA's with their name in it, no nameplates on locker, nothing that shows nay affiliation to a school that the kid is not signed with.

Read the article then do the math........With five home games the Zips need a total of 75,000 atendance. That means with three home games left we need an average of 13,756 per game not 10,317. And I am still wondering about the 33,732 total for the first two games. Also do those BOGO general admission tickets sold for the Bowling Green game count, or are they disqualified as "deeply discounted"? someone tried to explain this to nme before but i believe as long as in the "ticket system" shows that the ticket is 33% of the highest single game ticket price it can be counted as paid attendance. the way i understand it is that if you have the highest single game ticket price of $20, then as long as the system shows that the buy one get one ticket can be shown as being sold for $6.60 it will count. so if you pay $10 for a buy one get one you could sitribute the cost to equal out as $5 per ticket. so if you sell 50 tickets at the buy one get one price which would give you 100 total tickets for $500. then you would take the $500 divide that by $6.60 and get 75.75 tickets that could be counted for attendance. so the buy one get one tickets do help a ton. it's a great way get your paid numbers up. instead of just the original 50 tickets being counte toward attendance, you now have 75 tickets being counted and the other 25 are just cinsidered comps.i think it's all how you use the dollar amounts in the ticket system based on the dollar amounts given.i could be wrong but i think this is basically what iwas told.

With everything taken into consideration and injuries and eligibility i would say that a solid 20+ win regular season should not be a big surprise at all. By my calculations we will only play a maximum of 31 regular season games, maybe less, depending on the CBE classic. So, 30 wins is probably out of the picture unless we don't make the NCAA tournament, wind up in the NIT and run the table... Anyway, at this point in the preseason i would predict a record of 22-8 playing in only 30 games because Texas Tech will beat us at in Lubbock which mean we will beat up on Tiffin for the TBA game on the 19th at home. I think that is a pretty fair assessment of the squad.I am reluctant to post my win/loss prediction because we will win games that we shouldn't and lose some that we shouldn't. It works both ways to even itself out but on our way to a MAC regular season and post-season title here goes...Oral Roberts, UIC, Nevada, Ohio, Miami, Toledo, Buffalo, Can't.With the MAC tournament this should put us at 25-8 entering the tournament. Regardless of the automatic MAC bid we will get in (even if we lose the title game and wind up 24-9).There you have it folks... Now DISCUSS!!!

I agree with Rasor's picks.As with any football picks, how can I predict what kind of football team the Zips will be when they play Toledo?For that matter, what kind of team will Toledo be then? If we can't beat K.S.U at K.S.U, how will we beat Toledo at Toledo?One thing I do know without any predicting it could be for the same reason we beat NC State at their place... just becasue we play the better 60 minutes of football. that's what it comes down to and why the game is played on the field and not on paper or in vegas.F S U K

as a zipper of 6 years it is does not exaclty classify me as old by normal standards, but by zips standards i believe it does. being out of state i was watching some football during the afternoon while keeping track of the zips game on gametracker. when Can't State scored first i think i threw up a little bit in my mouth. throughout the game i felt sick to my stomach and writing this post makes me feel just as bad. at least i know in the back of my mind that and they can never take away our 2005 trophy. the season is not over; actually only about half way with the big games coming up in the mac schedule. i have only been away from zippyland for a short time but i feel your pain. i consider myself on old guy, especially on this board, well actually the old blue board. here's to basketball season and taking away the Can't State thunder where they took it from us!
