is it off campus grounds? If so, that's why. If not, than you need special license with specific facility capabilities. It's just not an 'option' at most facilities.

"True" was changed from "U" about 6 or 7 years ago now. The school was never ever called Akron University. It's slang. It's just annoying when people outside of the University circle call it Akron University as mentioned in the other basketball thread and on the back of Hixson's letterman's coat.The School is The University of Akron. Akron U became a very popular term with the Wrecking Crew of Akron U in '62. Pease tell me if i am wrong but i think this is pretty accurate. After that time all of the folks around that era referred to it as Akron U as the "official" slang name of the school.Yes, the fight song although written long ago using the phrase "Akron U" has been changed since to "Akron True". In the commencement programs it talks about the original rendition of the song. It never mentions any updates or changes. Did you know that the original fight song was written in a different key than what is played today? That’s never mentioned either. CLASS DISMISSED!

good video i liked it. It's pretty cool to get the feature in SLAM magazine (last year) and get videos made about the Zips because of the LeBron connection. as much as it is said that the zips should be front and center this is a great way to connect the Zips with mainstream college basketball. anytime you can have such a big superstar involved with your operations it's a plus.

I seen this kid play and wasent impressed with him. I also have a link to his highlight film if anyone would like to see it. He would be by far the worst QB on the team. and he doesnt have the speed to play FS at the D1 level. then post the ink for us all to see and make our own judgment... also with that size he could play LB

because they know him already and have seen him 4 million times. It's easier for them to have him drive up the road once the combine is over or go to Akron's pro day than to to get an o-lineman from the west coast to visit with. geography my friend.

Yes, this is a bush league move for poetic justice by the marketing department. It shows they are trying to get more fans to games, but if they knew the circus around LeBron being attached to the Zips programs that probably would have rethought the idea. This is a good marketing idea but does continue to cast they shadow on Dru and Romeo instead of them being the in the spotlight that they rightfully deserve.Now on to the blanket topic; I understood that they were supposed to be given as one per order, not one per ticket to reward the ticker buyer, not necessarily every person with a single season ticket. Think of it this way; with all of the comp tickets to businesses as part of sales deals somebody different may be at each game using the same ticket claiming they never got their blanket since they are a season ticket holder. It would have saved a lot of face for the department to use the ticket ID numbers on the ticket sheets rather than individual people. That is the explanation given tome by a former employee when i asked him about the blanket situation in the fall. This was the original intent and is what is done at just about every school anyway.

Cap K, i agree. With Kentucky being MAC only for a while there has to be a possibility of us doing the same for the Big Televen or Big East or if nothing else possibly going the independant route which would allow us to schedule tougher competition for each game and be more attractive to the selction committee come tournamet time. I believe we are getting dissed becasue of our involvement in the MAC.

i agree. their new stadium is pretty awesome. I had the chance to see it this fall when i was in Dallas for a conference. Great facilty and it would look even better back here!
