  1. Why do I see that Pitt game here never happening? 1 for 1's with BCS schools when the "lower" school plays at the bigger school first= time and time again the bigger school buys that game out. Overall, though...good scheduling.
  2. OSU, PSU, etc. games are mostly for the $$$. The wicked thing about it is we might not "need" those games if we get good and start averaging 20-25,000 fans per game. However, the only way we get to 20-25,000 is if we get good...and then we might have a puncher's chance against an OSU, PSU, UM in a down year (see Toledo). In general, though, the way to go if you want the "name" programs and to avoid huge embarresment right now is get the bottom/middle feeders of the Big 10, ACC and Big East and stay away from the traditional powers. With that being said...we lost 41-3 to Temple. Granted...Temple and Toledo THIS year are probably good for 8th-9th place in the Big Ten and ACC.
  3. Infocision looks nice even when "1/2" empty
  4. Why would you want two fullbacks as our backfield? Chisholm is one of our gamebreakers...we need speed, noot plowhorses.SITUATIONALLY I would like to see it...sorry that I was not clearer. No doubt, I would love to see Chisholm get 18+ carries a game.Rossi was highly recruited and I was VERY impressed with his running at the one practice I was at. We have very little info, really, on ANY of these guys.
  5. Depth chart (page 4):http://gozips.com/sports/fball/2011-12/fb_...11_(temple).pdfQuick glance...Bostick at back-up RB looks to be the only change.I really would like to see a "power backfield" of Rossi at TB and Bailey at FB. Maybe if we actually get inside the 5 yard line we might see it.
  6. Miami going from 1-11 to MAC champions least year is another one to look at to "compare".One interesting tidbit: 2009: Miami went 1-11 and were outscored 410-1872010: Zips went 1-11 and were outscored 421-187Golden faced a considerably tougher schedule in his 1-11 season: his team was outscored 496-131All kinds of fun numbers and results here:http://cfbdatawarehouse.com/data/div_ia_team_index.phpAny faith I have in Ianallo relates to the last 3 games of last year where we started to look better. I think it is A LOT to ask for a win against Temple. But a strong performance is a must. Progress from the last 3 beatdowns from them. UC might still hit us pretty hard after that, but then the winning must start in those next few weeks with VMI, EMU, FIU, etc.
  7. These next 5 weeks are HUGE for Ianallo and anyone, including me, that is still giving the guy a chance. Temple: we MUST be competitive and look like we belong out there. If the game is undecided game begininng the 4th quarter that would be progress. I will accept 24-10 type loss. @ Cincinnati: somewhat competitive...lose by less than 3 TDs. I will accept 34-14 type loss. VMI: MUST WIN. Expecting 34-17 type score. @ EMU: if not a win, must be a darn close loss. But...really...if we are going to win 4+ games, this has to be one of them. 24-20 win FIU: They are supposedly the best team (or in top 2) of Sun Belt. They are at our place. Close loss? Might be acceptable if we win the 2 previous games. Bottom line...we don't come out of these next 5 games with AT LEAST 2 wins and 2 other good performances...I will be calling for Ianallo's head like others.
  8. Personally, I think there is nothing more demoralizing than a team taking a knee in a blowout. The counter-argument to that would be why keep running, especially in that heat, and risk anyone getting injured. THAT is a fair argument, for sure. As for "starter"..Hyde is officially #3/#4 of 5 RBs. OSU had 2 viable RBs in that game.
  9. Addazio runs what they ran at Florida with the addition of some formations that make the team comfortable. Generally it is spread (from what I saw while watching the game on ESPN3, the game video is there if you have time or access). The issue will be containing Pierce. Temple scored on plays over 20 yards several times so keeping the big play down like we did with OSU is important. Temple's D-line is still tough but not OSU. The little success Nova had was from quick strike passes, but I think we can run against Temple if we stick to power and sweeps. Holding them under 30 would be an accomplishment. And being competitive is more about our offense moving the ball, scoring, and staying on the field to rest the D. Thanks for the info on Temple's offense. Without making TOO MANY excuses...the oppressive heat definitely favored OSU. The stronger, deeper team is almost always going to be at an advantage in that heat. Playing at 6-9 PM with temps in the 70's and rain (if forecast stays true) will also help. I am hoping for 1-2 designed runs for Moore and or Rossi to mix things up. A quick pass to WRs? Were we not asking for this for WEEKS until we started to FINALLY incorporate it some in the 2nd half of the season?
  10. Let's start talking about this week! I did a VERY quick look to find out what kind of offense Addazio runs with no luck. Ran the ball 45 times, threw the ball 20 times...so my guess is they are at least keeping some of Golden's more traditional offense. If that is the case, we are looking at two I-formation type offenses this week. And we will be seeing something similar to last week. Temple is good, no doubt, but hopefully the fact that the Zips will not be seeing quite the athlete that OSU puts out there will help. I said it in another thread...I will take a hard fought 24-10 loss where we get 275+ yards of offense and over 50% completion from our QB(s).
  11. It's easy to point out the negatives (there were quite a few), so I will take time to point out some positives (even if not stated in a perfectly positive manner). 1. Chisholm looks like he is going to be a player. Keep him healthy and we have something to work with there. 2. Moore at least showed good athleticism and toughness. We will hope that his reads are better next week and more guys are open. 3. D played well and hard before wearing down. 4. Special Teams looked better. At least the FG LOOKED like a "real" kick. 5. Suel made a great catch. Might be something there as well. 6. All-Mac punter? We might need it. Sad to say...give me a good, hard fought 24-10 loss against Temple where we have 275 yards+ of offense and our QB completes 50%+ of his passes and I probably will be relatively happy.

  13. Wow. Great article. I have a lot more respect for Ianallo as a man and for his belief systems. Ianallo was not MY first choice, but I also have always stayed true to the fact you cannot just judge him on 1 year. I think both he and Nicely, understandbly based on their respective positions, have been criticized quite a bit too much without really enough data. I give them both this year to see what they truly are made of.
  14. I am 5'11" and clayton was a solid 2-3 inches taller than me when we saw him at the IPF before practice one day this spring. Are you sure he was not wearing these: https://www.buymaxtall.com/
  15. Seems like he is reading Zipsnation (OK..I will toot my own horn a bit here too) http://zipsnation.org/forums//index.php?sh...t=0&start=0 A few things stood out: 1. Despite what might have been said about a "shrinking roster", there seems to be some depth building in some key areas. OL has some depth, DL has some depth, QB has some depth and balance of classes (talent...we will see!), WR and DB also are building some depth.
  16. Your asking for it. You don't remember all the uniform threads? Seems like most people on this board would rather go back to the old action A uniforms. To me those are gawdawful. I agree with you, I dig the Boise stuff. More important, the kids dig it. Uniform thread Another uniform thread Yet another thread about uniforms One more for good measure Now try not to repeat anything already stating in the above links. Since I started 2 of those (2 years apart), I will "defend" myself= since uniforms for so many schools change yearly if not WEEKLY...1 post per year seems like it is not enough. So, we were due for one!!! I hate most everything about what Boise does. Personally I like classic or a mix of modern and classic. But uniforms are big business, and no doubt some schools think it can propel them to new heights. Oregon MIGHT be proof of that...though it was just part of it. They definitely became "hip", but they also got better coaching and BIG TIME $$$ from that Nike dude.
  17. Unless he is going to end up playing in Canada! Either way...if he ends up in CFL, NFL, UFL or Arena...very likely he was successful here!
  18. This board is downright TAME compared to other sports forums I frequent. As for Moore starting...unless you have "The GUY", everyone is always more excited about "the next guy". If Moore stinks it up weeks 1 and 2, some on the board will be contemplating thoughts of D'Orazio. Just the way it goes. Whoever the QB is...better hope that those around him are better too. A good QB can make good players great...but he can not make bad players good.
  19. It's funny how different people see different things. I actually liked A LOT about what I saw from Pohl= strong arm and very accurate. Now, I was chasing around my almost 3 year old son for the most part, but the bits and pieces I caught I liked what I saw from him for the future. Comparing Nicely and Moore from the little I saw...Nicely looked better than Moore. STILL high on some throws....so we will need that added height from guys (AJ Price is certainly a "tall glass of water"). Rossi looked really good. Suel looked good. Potts definitely looking like a WR (couple nice catches, but a couple drops). Can't say I was really able to focus on too much of the defensive guys. Good time. Looking forward to the season.
  20. I am more interested in who will be RG. Coach I says that is just as important as QB and TB.
  21. While I never say never, I will at least say "rarely, if ever". The problem I see is this: Sometimes you don't really know about a guy until he plays REAL games. Nicely has played quite a few, but now it is year 2 in the system and he is an upperclassman. With Moore, he is now playing at a level above where he played before for the 1st time. Despite what your feelings are about OSU...it is a daunting task in game 1. By the same token, we have a conference game in week 2. Certainly, IDEALLY, you want your QB situation settled by the time you play conference games. So unless one is CLEARLY better than the other...they both get some reps against OSU. I think you need to see what both can do against that kind of competition in a REAL GAME.
  22. A few things stood out: 1. Despite what might have been said about a "shrinking roster", there seems to be some depth building in some key areas. OL has some depth, DL has some depth, QB has some depth and balance of classes (talent...we will see!), WR and DB also are building some depth. 2. Lots of youth, for sure. But seems to be enough good vets sprinkled in Waller, Wagner, Little, Bice, Anderson, Marcoux, Harvey, etc. 3. WR specifically...I know there were and continue to be concerns about the WRs. I also know there is concern about the size of the WRs. But in Price, Suel, Sconiers and Russell (at least 3 of these guys will be our top 4 WRs), we actually have pretty nice size. I also always have liked the "former QB turned WR" type player, and we have that in Potts. Finally, now that we have a reasonable amout of TEs (4), in that group I really think Will Fleming could turn into a "Dallas Clark" type player...IF we can find a QB that can get him and others the ball. 4. Nick Rossi wearing the #1. I know we don't necessarily have this great tradition of a guy wearing #1, but if you follow college football in general the single digit numbers are COVETED. You put a freshman in the #1 jersey and you are, consciously or subconsciously, expecting great things. Could we have our own Owen Marecic here? 5. Tyler Williams- only "ATH" on the roster. 5'7, 155....but boy I hope he might turn out to be something special. 6. Most concered about RB and LB depth (and LB SIZE).
  23. Football should be an easy sell. It is the most popular sport in this country, it only happens 6 days per year (speaking specifically to UA home games) and this year it happens on 6 Saturdays. UA football is not yet an "experience"/"event". Browns games are an experience (and Browns typically suck). Opening Day in baseball is an experience (and plenty of teams consistently suck). The UA vs. Can't game is the closest thing we have to an experience (and both those teams typically suck). Winning would have been a HUGE help in kicking off the new stadium experience. Not winning the first 2 seasons is a gigantic swing and a miss.
  24. If we could just get Del Griffith to pair with him...well, now, that would be a pretty good team! Planes, Trains and Automobiles is a 1987 American comedy film released by Paramount Pictures. It was written, produced and directed by John Hughes. The film stars Steve Martin as Neal Page, a high-strung advertising executive, who meets Del Griffith, played by John Candy, an eternally sunny, overly talkative, well-meaning, but accident-prone shower curtain ring salesman who seems to live in a world governed by a different set of rules. They share a two-day odyssey of misadventures trying to get Neal home to Chicago from New York in time for Thanksgiving dinner. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planes,_Trains_and_Automobiles
  25. Harsh. Pretty much everything was wrong last year. No bright spots. Pn7 is not the only zip at fault.Brian Wagner only won 1 game last year. Is he a loser too?YES! And NO!los·er (lzr)n.1. a. One that fails to win: the losers of the game.b. One who takes loss in a specified way: a graceful loser; a poor loser.2. a. One that fails consistently, especially a person with bad luck or poor skills: "losers at home seeking wealth and glory in undeveloped countries" (Arthur M. Schlesinger, Jr.)b. One that is bad in quality: That book is a real loser. If you take #1...he is. If you take #2..he is not. Still not sure where Nicely fits...I have been a supporter, but he regressed last year (like that's news!).
