  1. If the ND rumor is true, it would help tremendously next year. I have witnessed at least 3-4 of those guys and, no doubt, they would be significant talent upgrades and do well in the MAC. However, by doing this, Ianallo would be doing exactly the opposite of what he said he would do: “I knew when I arrived here that it would not be an easy task,” Ianello said. “We are just going to continue to build. That’s what you do. There is no magic wand. If you take shortcuts and you compromise, you really won’t get it fixed." from this article: http://www.ohio.com/sports/ua-football-coa...essure-1.245792
  2. We took a chance on Dambrot. Maybe it is time to consider a guy like Leavitt that brought a program from the ground up...which basically is where UA is. It could be a PR disaster initially, but America loves a comeback story (and...really..how much attention would the coach of UA get...maybe "any publicity is good publicity!".
  3. Even getting drunk is a process around here...Yeah, but my process has been proven to work. +1,000AWESOME!!!
  4. TWO Xmas Ales?? I was hullucinating after ONE!!!!You guys are light weights...After sitting through this crappy football season, I loaded up with seven cases to get through the winter. Not a light weight, just a light wallet. I would have to take out a 2nd mortgage to purchase 7 cases!!! Anyway, I am just building a FOUNDATION!!!
  5. I am also a fan of BC (my father played football there). It was almost comical as I watched each team (Akron and BC) "race out" to dueling 7-0, 14-0, 21-0 and 28-0 deficits. Both teams have MAJOR HC/coaching issues, a great LB that I feel sorry for and a dwindling (if ever there) fan base. Thankfully, I purchased my first 6 of Great Lakes X-mas Ale last night. Two of those (alcohol content has been bumped from 7.2 to 7.5) and a muscle relaxer and I was feeling just fine. :-)
  6. Snazzy vest!
  7. I just get a feeling that things are going to go right.Zips win 20-17.LR8 completes 8 of 15 throws. The Chisel gashes the Bobcats for 133 yards on 28 carries. (maybe "gashes" is too strong of a word)
  8. I'm excited about this week's game. If the forecast holds true, rain will clear out later on Friday, low 50's and dry on Saturday= football weather. Fall colors in all their glory, a day alone with the wife watching football (she is a big fan too!). The hope that 2 weeks off, SOME progress against FIU (at least we were close on the scoreboard and had chances), the return of Suel, hopefully getting The Chisel healthy, etc.Come on Zips...get it done!!!
  9. At the beginning of the year, I think we would have looked at EMU being much weaker than they apparently are (they are still bad), and OU, CMU and Miami being much better than they now are. So, the tables have turned a bit on the schedule in looking at the last 6 games with 5 winnable ones, 3 of which are at home. Clear that Temple and Toledo are the class of the MAC, and WMU is at least a solid team.I said it before with a comment Wistrcill made about us HOPEFULLY wining some games soon. I think there is a chink in the armor of trush he has in Coach I, and I think it is imperative that 2 wins happen and any losses outside of WMU are close/competitive games.
  10. To break this up a bit.... I lived in Cincy in the mid 90's when NO ONE cared about Cincy football. OK, maybe 12-15,000 people. But not the 30,000 or so that have cared for the last few years. I know some of those people...they support UC AND OSU. Obviously the Big East was huge for that interest initially, b/c it was better to see Pitt, WVU, Syracuse (even though bad), vs. seeing Memphis, East Carolina, etc. And it brought in lots of $$$ to UC. Then, of course, they started to actually WIN...another huge boost. This market is big enough to support OSU while still having good support for Akron. And the funny thing is, while some of those same teams mentioned above are in the CUSA and would be Akron's new potential opponents in CUSA, I still think it would be good for a couple years b/c it would be (as someone else said), something that differentiates Akron from the MAC schools.
  11. At this point, I would be relatively happy with an exact replica of the 2008 game: http://www.cfbdatawarehouse.com/data/div_i...php?teamid=2374
  12. All we can do is hope! Hope.......for Akron to suddenly have the kind of money that a school like Arizona has, which allows them to make that kind of decision. And...was this Arizona coach only 1-1/2 years into a 5 year contract? So how many here would be okay with a 5-55 record after 5 seasons if his wins and losses continue on the current path? Actually, he is on pace for 6.7 wins. :-)
  13. It is a more likely scenario (if the Big 12 steals WV, Louisville or any combination) that CUSA becomes the Big East. It would make CUSA a 16 team conference, and by taking the Big East name they acquire the BCS AQ status for at least 2 years. The question I have, is what happens to UMass, Temple will only leave to get to an AQ status conference. However, UMass's football only status was contingent on Temple staying in the MAC. If Temple leaves, the MAC has the option of rescinding the offer, doing a 2 year probation (meaning no championship or bowl eligibility), or forcing UMass to join as a full member. And blaming that whole thing on Ianello is assinine. Considering the BCS (and therefore all conferences wanting AQ) look at a 5 year period. Much more blame would need to be put on Brookhart for not holding up his end of the deal. By all accounts, he should have been able to repeat 2005 at least twice if he knew how to handle QB development. If MAC schools get taken, it will be based on commitment to athletics, market potential, and not performance. The whole thing can be cleaned up with out taking any MAC schools (including Temple). Settle down there, killer. Just a bit of off-based humor, I guess. :-)
  14. Big East looking to possibly add Memphis, East Carolina, UCF and maybe even Southern Miss (along with acadamies and Temple) Looking to get to 12...WVU and Lville possibly to leave. Might end being 2-4 spots open in the CUSA. Tough time to be so bad at football. We have the other programs moving along nicely, great facilities, great area/market...dammit Ianallo!!!!
  15. The foundation crumbled. C ya.
  16. That’s because the Zips have gone 5-25 in their sparkling new home. “Nothing builds attendance like a winner,” Wistrcill said Friday. “Obviously, that’s goal No. 1. As we rebuild the football program and hopefully start to win more games, people will come.” HOPEFULLY? It is one word, but it could be a telling word in what Tommy W is starting to feel about Coach I and the staff.
  17. It is simple for me right now= win 2 more games, and he gets another year. If not, c ya. No reason with a bye week perfectly placed in the middle of the season that this team cannot win 2 more games. OU= 4-2 but barely beat Can't and lost to Buffalo. Winnable game CMU= looking tougher now, but still got blasted by WMU (very good team). This one is going to be tough @ Miami= road game, and Miami is not as bad as their record. Tough, but winnable game. Can't= ABSOLUTELY A MUST WIN. Terrible team, home game. @ Buffalo= only team we beat last year. Toss up game. @ WMU. Don't give us much of a chance. Can't should be a win, 3 other games that are winnable. Asking too much to go 2-4 against this schedule? Eh, no. Win 2 or show Coach I the door, Tommy!
  18. FIXED!!!
  19. The greed of Texas is just outrageous. The reason that the Big 12 is not moving back to 12 schools is 99% about Texas and Texas vs. Oklahoma as the yearly defacto championship game.Even if Missouri leaves, Big 12 could EASILY go and get 4 other schools that would at least bring SOMETHING back to the conference as a whole...but no way is Texas allowing that.WHAT SHOULD happen is Big 12 should get the next best group of programs out there in the general area (BYU, TCU, Boise and either Houston or SMU) and the Big East should grab the next 6 best football options (after losing TCU, Pitt and SU) to add to the 6 remaining schools (WVU, Lville, Cinci, Rutgers, UConn and South Florida). UCF, ECU, Southern Miss, Temple would be the starting points. If Navy and Army agree (football only), there you go= 12 football schools, 18 basketball schools.Even though it is NO LONGER about regions...a combo of BE and leftover Big 12 still basically becomes 2 conferences in one. So if Texas would just limit the greed a bit and allow that conference to grow to 12, this whole thing would settle down a bit more.
  20. I think those that have "hope" only have "hope" because of the schedule. I don't think anyone thinks the Zips are any better than one of the worst 20 teams in the FBS. But the fact remains that the next 2 games are against VMI and EMU...and Can't and Buffalo appear on the schedule. Not to mention, Central Michigan is looking to be a bad team this year.So those of us that thought UA could get 4-6 wins...I don't think any of us saw us doing too much in these 1st 3 games. Admittedly, it has been WORSE than I expected. But MY thought that we could win 4+ games was based on VMI, EMU, Can't, Buffalo and maybe 1 surprise (ala the ALMOST win...sadly..against Miami last year). So the "confidence" that some have is simply that we are NOT the worst of a very bad bunch. And that, in and of itself, is bad.Oh...and VMI is a must win.
  21. I agree. These two sentences go hand in hand. Players aren't getting better. Maybe because they don't have the base ability to get better. The sad thing is that SOME TEAM out there has to be the worst. And, the worst team probably has the worst or near worst talent (at least "bottom 10" talent).
  22. I have been saying the same thing. The UC game almost does not matter= I am expecting to get trounced. The recovery has to begin by beating VMI, getting some confidence and then taking care of EMU. Get those 2 wins and get some momentum and let the kids see some level of success and the FIU game becomes one where MAYBE we can get something good rolling.Said it after OSU game...Ianallo has 5 weeks for me to not become another member to completely turn against him. Temple game was WORSE than I thought, but I am sticking to my 5 weeks.
  23. Pretty sad that my HOPE for this game is:UC scores less than 50.We score a TD at any point. If I were to get greedy:UC scores less than 40.We score 10+ including a TD when it still means something.I do remember feeling some of the same hopelessness against IU last year...and we ended up playing pretty well.
  24. I lived in Cincinnati for 7 years, so if anyone needs info just let me know. Of course, I have now been away for 10 years, so the info might be bad.Jungle Jim's is awesome= impressive wall of beer!!
  25. Agreed...it is simply moronic. Everyone that knows anything knows that if you are going to design an offense that will work, you MUST get your knowledge from Tecmo Super Bowl!!!
